  • Publication number: 20110255996
Abstract: A valve system for controlling a flow of a fluid is provided that includes a port including a valve seat, and a ball adapted to cooperate with the valve seat to seal the port. The valve system also includes an arrangement for magnetically positioning the ball on the valve seat. A method for operating a pump is provided that includes releasing a piston causing the piston to return to an unactuated position to increase the interior volume forcing fluid in a reservoir to move into the piston body through a port due to a pressure differential between the interior volume and the reservoir. The method also includes sealing the port with a ball after the piston returns to an unactuated position and the pressure differential falls below a threshold by magnetically attracting the ball to a valve seat of the port.

  • Publication number: 20090219131
Abstract: The system is designed for use in a hospital for tracking hand washing and other medical care related tasks. It includes multiple disinfectant soap dispenser devices connected to a network server that provide confirmation that caregivers are in compliance with hospital rules regarding hand cleanliness and the performance of other patient maintenance or treatment procedures. The system individually identifies each disinfectant soap dispenser device, identifies the location of the device associated with each patient and identifies each authorized caregiver or unauthorized recorded person using the device. The device identifies its location, the identity of caregiver, the time and date of use of device, and same is recorded in a network server as part of patient records.

  • Patent number: 6449598
Abstract: The software based interactive system provides accessibility to an institution's own policies via either an internet web site or an intranet home page. Qualified users may search for and access documents related to institution policies for review, including a list of those which the user is required to know. Where required, a test is provided to the user. The responses are scored and the results stored. Administrative users can set and change qualification parameters as to individual, group and/or institution-wide policy access and receive individual, group and/or institution-wide test results. Identification of incomplete, contradictory or obsolete policies, policies awaiting approval, policies due for review and data on user review of policies can be reported.
