  • Publication number: 20090163179
Abstract: Systems (10, 40), devices (12, 42) and methods for transporting mobile device message data, such as text messages, between a mobile device and a cordless telephone device. The systems include a cordless telephone base station having incorporated therein the ability to transport text messages from a connected or associated mobile device. The base station includes a message decoder that determines which portions of data received by the base station are message data. The message data can be displayed on the base station's cordless handset. Alternatively, the systems include a mobile device docking system that bridges the ability to receive text messages from a mobile device, such as a cellular telephone or other handheld mobile device, to a cordless telephone base station. The mobile device docking system is connected between the mobile device and the cordless telephone base station, e.g., via a wired connection or wirelessly, e.g., via a Bluetooth connection.

  • Publication number: 20070286174
Abstract: A system (50) including a telephone device having incorporated therein voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) adapter functionality. The system includes a VoIP adapter for coupling to a network, such as an Internet protocol (IP) network, and a telephone device, such as a cordless telephone device, for coupling to the VoIP adapter. The telephone device includes a base station and a plurality of handsets, such as cordless handsets. The telephone device is configured to include therein VoIP adapter functionality, such as subscriber integrated circuit (SLIC) functionality that conventionally resides in a conventional VoIP adapter. The incorporation of SLIC functionality and other VoIP adapter functionality into the telephone device reduces the overall cost of the system, e.g., by eliminating relatively expensive hardware, such as SLICs, and also reduces the relative complexity of the system, e.g., by simplifying several system component hardware configurations.

  • Patent number: 6071640
Abstract: A battery mounting assembly for a radio (100) includes a radio housing and a back cover (102, 104). The radio housing (102) has front and back surfaces (108, 110) with retaining posts (122) extending from the back surface (110). A battery pack (106) has through-holes (120) which correspond and mate with the retaining posts (122) to retain the battery pack against the back surface (110). The back cover (104) slides along the radio housing (102) to compressibly retain the battery pack (106) against the radio housing.

  • Patent number: 5920178
Abstract: A battery pack (100) for an electronic device includes one or more rechargeable battery cells (102), a charging circuit (117) for regulating a predetermined recharging voltage and current applied to the battery cells (102); and an electrical connector (115) integrated into the battery pack for providing connection to the charging circuit and permitting connection to the electrical connector (115) whether the battery pack (100) is positioned within or outside the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 5701355
Abstract: A microphone (10) for a two-way radio has front (12) and rear (14) housing assemblies, a PTT button (48) and a detachable power cable (18). The front housing (20) has a microphone opening (22) and an integrally formed hoop (36) on the lower part of the housing. A waterproof membrane (32) covers the opening and protects a microphone cartridge (24). A grill (34) snaps to the front housing, securing the membrane in place. The PTT button actuates a PTT switch through an elastomeric boot (50) which seals the microphone and also acts as a return spring for the PTT button. The rear housing (40) has a hoop receiver (38) on the lower part of the housing to receive the hoop on the front housing, and the PTT button fits into the side of the housing. The detachable power cable snaps into the microphone, and is held in place with a locking collar (58) which engages the hoop.
