Patent number: 11788576Abstract: A quick-disconnect ball and socket joint includes a substantially spherical strain relief node configured to be coupled to an object, such as a cable. The system further comprises an end cap configured to capture the substantially spherical strain relief node, the end cap having a diameter that permits the substantially spherical strain relief node to pass therethrough when the system is in an open position. The system still further comprises a retaining element configured to retain the substantially spherical strain relief node in the end cap. The retaining element is attached to the end cap when the system is in a closed position and the object is prevented from being removed from capture by the end cap. However, in the open position, the retaining element may be removed from capture by the end cap by passing the substantially spherical strain relief node through a diameter of the end cap.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2020Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventor: Michael H. Patent number: 5973428Abstract: A stator assembly for an axial-flow fan motor for cooling electronic components consisting of a base, a stator, and insulating pins for connecting the base to the stator. The stator consists of a core covered by an insulating coating and a winding formed thereon from magnet wire. The stator also includes mounting holes formed in the core. The winding is electrically connected to the base through free ends of the magnet wire forming the winding. Each insulating pin has a first conductive end which is mounted to the base and a second non-conductive end which is received in one of the mounting holes on the stator. In the preferred embodiment, the base consists of a printed circuit board which includes circuitry for operating the motor within which the stator assembly is mounted. The method of securing the stator to the base is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1998Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: NMB U.S.A. Inc.Inventors: Jerzy Zakrocki, Michael H. Brown

Patent number: 5422617Abstract: A multiple coil, multiple armature solenoid is disclosed. The solenoid has; multiple armatures slidably disposed on a common slip shaft, with separate coils disposed about the corresponding armatures. The conductor coils, through magnetic induction, displace the armatures through respective linear strokes along the slip shaft. By varying the stroke length of the various armatures, it is possible to use an armature that travels through a short stroke length to generate kinetic energy that is transferred through the slip shaft to actuate an armature that must travel through a longer stroke length. In this manner, the problem of a high breakaway force associated with a long stroke armature is resolved.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1993Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: IMC Magnetics Corp.Inventor: Michael H. Brown

Patent number: 4783934Abstract: A roof assembly exemplarily for use in outdoor theatrical and musical productions comprises a roof trusswork elevated by means of a plurality of telescoping legs. The legs are raised in unison so that the roof trusswork maintains the same orientation throughout a raising or lowering operation. A clamping or locking mechanism is provided for rigidifying the entire structure upon the raising thereof.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1986Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: United Production Services, Inc.Inventors: Chris Langhart, Michael H. Patent number: 4414849Abstract: The apparatus provides for detection of variation in acoustic properties at a metal to air interface (18) such as may be caused by arrival of drops of leaking liquid. Ultrasonic signal pulses from transducer (14) are reflected many times back and forth across rod (11) between the transducer and the interface (18). Change in diminution of amplitude with successive reflection can be detected over a multiplicity (e.g. 10) of reflections and indicates change in the acoustic properties of the interface. Comparison is made between a selected early reflected signal pulse and a selected later reflection. Response is inhibited in respect of intermediate reflections.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1981Date of Patent: November 15, 1983Assignee: United Kingdom Atomic Energy AuthorityInventors: Michael H. Patent number: 3951404Abstract: An exercising device is disclosed for building and toning body muscles. The device has two substantially U-shaped frame members between which are looped bands of an elastometric material. Grips are provided between the ends of the frame for grasping by the hands of the user. The grips have separable portions to permit the addition or removal of the bands to thereby vary the resistance resulting from the tension of the elastometric material. Each band is an elongated tubular member having opened ends which are joined to form a loop. Each grip is made of three aligned portions that are detachably threaded together. The center portion has threadable opposite end portions that are detachably threadably connected to the other two sections of the grip. A portion of a rod-shaped element is positioned in each open end of the tubular member and an adhesive is applied between the tubular member and the rod-shaped element to secure the ends together.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1975Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Inventor: Michael H.
