  • Patent number: 6960068
Abstract: A pump (10) includes an impeller (12) positioned in a housing (11). A valve assembly (13) is positioned within a valve sleeve (25) which is carried by the impeller (12). The impeller (12) is carried by an armature (27), and a pocket (28) is formed between the impeller (12) and the armature (27) adjacent to the valve sleeve (25). One or more elastomeric members (29) are positioned in the pocket (28) to surround the impeller (12) at the area of the valve sleeve (25) to provide a retaining force on the valve sleeve (25).

  • Patent number: 6758657
Abstract: A pump (10) has a housing which forms a pump chamber (17) having a wall (18). Inlet and outlet valve assemblies (19, 20) communicate with the chamber (17) and, respectively, allow fluid to be received in, and discharged from, the chamber (17). An armature (27) carries a plunger (28) and is reciprocatably moved by an electromagnetic coil assembly (25). A coil spring (44) biases the plunger (28) toward a stop surface (41) positioned adjacent to the plunger (28). Upon activation of the coil assembly (25), the plunger. (28) is moved against the force of the spring (44) such that a diaphragm (31) carried by the plunger (28) moves into the chamber (17) without engaging the wall (18) to discharge fluid through the outlet valve assembly (20). When the coil assembly (25) is deactivated, the spring (44) moves the plunger (28) toward the stop surface (41) without allowing it to engage the stop surface (41) to draw fluid in through the inlet valve assembly (19).

  • Patent number: 6012910
Abstract: An oscillating pump (10) includes a housing (11) which carries the components thereof. These components include an electromagnetic coil (24) surrounding an armature (23) carried by an impeller (12) which is positioned longitudinally between an inlet area (16) and an outlet area (17) of the pump (10). The armature (23) moves longitudinally upon activation of the coil (24). The impeller (12) includes a pair of bellows (19, 20) and carries a valve (13). The bellows (19, 20) define an inlet chamber (21) and a discharge chamber (22). Another valve (15) is carried by the housing adjacent to the discharge chamber (22). A cup (25) is formed at the inlet end of the impeller (12) and includes a lip (26) defining shoulders (28, 29). The housing (11) is also provided with areas defining shoulders (32, 33). A spring (34) is floatably positioned between the shoulders (28, 33) and another spring (35) is floatingly positioned between the shoulders (29, 32).

  • Patent number: 5915930
Abstract: An oscillating pump (10) includes a housing (11) which carries the components thereof. These components include an electromagnetic coil (24) surrounding an armature (23) carried by an impeller (12) which is positioned longitudinally between an inlet area (16) and an outlet area (17) of the pump (10). The armature (23) moves longitudinally upon activation of the coil (24) to the point of the greatest magnetic force generated by the coil (24). The impeller (12) includes a pair of bellows (19, 20) and carries a valve (13). The bellows (19, 20) define an inlet chamber (21) and a discharge chamber (22). Another valve (15) is carried by the housing adjacent to the discharge chamber (16). Upon activation of the coil (24) the valve (13) forces fluid in the discharge chamber (22) through the valve (15) and allows fluid to pass from the inlet chamber (21) to the discharge chamber (22) upon deactivation of the coil (24).

  • Patent number: 5567131
Abstract: A valve assembly is disclosed for an oscillating pump of the type having a reciprocating armature carrying an impeller that defines a pump chamber for flow of fluid through the pump. The valve assembly includes a valve body mounted to the impeller, a valve seat attached to the valve body, a spring retainer, a spring mounted to the spring retainer and a plug located between the spring and the valve seat. The valve assembly provides a substantially fluid tight seal when the pump is discharging fluid and allows fluid to enter the pump chamber when the pump is suctioning. All wetted components are particularly suitable for corrosive fluids, such as acids.

  • Patent number: 4768888
Abstract: A bearing system for a motor (10) having a housing (20) and a rotor shaft (25). The bearing system includes a first unitary bearing member (31) located proximate to a first end (17) of the motor (10), and rotatably receiving the rotor shaft (25). The first bearing member (31) has a body region (40), first and second outer radial alignment surfaces (35, 36) for aligning the body region (40) relative to the housing (20), a radial bearing surface (45) for resisting radial forces from the rotor shaft (25) and an axial bearing surface (54) for resisting axial forces in a first direction. A flange (33) secures the first bearing member (31) to the housing (20). A first bearing plate (56) is fixed to the rotor shaft (25) for rotation therewith. The first bearing plate (56) is positioned in opposition to the axial bearing surface (54) of the first bearing member (31).
