  • Patent number: 10221797
Abstract: A method and a control device for monitoring the pressure in a crankcase of an internal combustion engine. The desired values for the pressure in the crankcase are defined for a plurality of operating points of the internal combustion engine. Furthermore, at least one of the defined desired pressure values is modified during operation of the internal combustion engine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 18, 2014
Date of Patent: March 5, 2019
    Assignee: MTU FRIEDRICHSHAFEN GMBH
Inventors: Michael Hönl, Christian Rehm, Kai-Michael Trautz, Johannes Baldauf

  • Patent number: 8918266
Abstract: A method for automatic lambda control of an internal combustion engine, in which, upon detection of a predetermined operating state of the internal combustion engine, a calibration factor (KAL) is determined and in which, during the operation of the internal combustion engine, a lambda measuring signal (iP) is corrected by the calibration factor (KAL) and is set as the actual lambda value (Lam(IST)) for the automatic lambda control of the internal combustion engine. The predetermined operating state is recognized when an engine coastdown is initiated.

    Assignee: MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH
Inventors: Tobias Weiss, Michael Hönl, Matthias Schweitzer
  • Patent number: 8616163
Abstract: A lean combustion method is provided for a four-stroke reciprocating internal combustion engine having a cylinder, in which a combustion chamber is delimited by a cylinder head and a piston is movable in a reciprocating manner, the piston being able to vary the volume of the combustion chamber. A fuel can be introduced directly into the combustion chamber, and at least one gas exchange inlet valve and one gas exchange outlet valve are provided for a gas exchange. An intermediate compression can be set in the combustion chamber at a gas exchange top dead center and a main compression can be set at an ignition top dead center.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 31, 2013
    Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Walter Huebner, Udo Gerke, Ulrich Spicher, Amin Velji, Michael Hoenl, Konstantinos Boulouchos, Norbert Peters, Olaf Roehl, Christof Schulz, Dennis Bensing, Christian Laemmle
