  • Publication number: 20210269927
Abstract: A pickling system for surface treatment, using a pickling medium, of strip steel in the form of standard steel, electric strip, high-grade steel, and extra-high-strength and ultra-high-strength third-generation steel in order to thereby provide a surface suitable for a subsequent shaping process for further processing. The system includes a plurality of treatment tanks connected in series. The pickling system has a modular construction and, starting from the strip infeed, at least one first treatment tank in the form of a dipping bath module is provided in the working direction, downstream of which a plurality of treatment tanks in the form of spray pickling modules are arranged, and at least one final second dipping bath module is arranged downstream of the spray pickling modules.

  • Patent number: 7011714
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for treating surfaces of metallic strip material (1), especially for pickling rolled material, in a treatment channel (2), with a pickling medium (3) containing acid. Jets (4) are set in the direction in which the strip is transported (5) at the entrance to the channel (2a) and in the opposite direction that in which the strip is transported at the exit of the channel (2b). The aim of the invention is to produce a closed liquid film with some turbulence on the surface of the strip. Said film should be maintained as far as the exit (2b) of the channel. To this end, additional jets (4) between the channel entrance (2a) and the channel exit (2b) are oriented in the opposite direction to the direction in which the strip is transported (5) and the pickling medium (3) is further delayed in flowing out at the channel exit (2b) by mechanical resistance devices (7) situated in the path of the transport channel (6).

  • Patent number: 6843860
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for pickling hot-rolled special steel strips (1) having an austenite, ferrite and/or martensite structure. The inventive method is carried out in a pickling line (7) with pickling sections (8) containing acids and rinsing sections (9) containing rinsing water (15). The aim of the invention is to provide a method that does not require an additional stretch-leveling step for descaling. The costs for pickling are reduced by pickling the hot-rolled special steel strip (1) in the pickling sections (8) with hydrochloric acid (13) and rinsing it in the first rinsing sections (9) with azotic acid (14) or an equivalent substitute pickling medium (14b) and treating it in further rinsing sections (9) with rinsing water (15).

  • Patent number: 5897764
Abstract: A process and a system for removing scale from the surface of high-grade steel strip in installations for the production of pickled hot strip and cold strip. The twofold descaling process combines an electrolytic pickling process with and ultrasonic cleaning of the strip surface.

  • Patent number: 5876522
Abstract: A process for pickling a strip which is produced in a thin slab installation and subsequently hot-rolled, especially a low-carbon steel strip, in a continuous process immediately following the rolling process. The process includes the following sequence of steps: gently cooling the strip exiting the rolling mill at .gtoreq.880.degree. C. in a first cooling zone to 850.degree. to 680.degree. C., balancing surface temperature and core temperature of the strip in a first recovery zone to a uniform cross section temperature of approximately 680.degree. C., gently cooling the strip in an immediately adjoining second cooling zone from 680.degree. to 480.degree. C., and balancing surface temperature and core temperature in a second recovery zone to a uniform cross section temperature of approximately 480.degree. C. The process continues by drastically cooling the strip from 480.degree. C. to approximately 95.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5804056
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the continuous treatment of annealed and non-annealed hot strip of stainless steel. First, the hot strip is stretched, bent and straightened to break a scale which has grown on the hot strip. Then, a electrolytic pickling is performed in an electrolyte with multiple alternating anodically-connected and cathodically-connected strip polarization. Directly following thereafter, pickling once again takes place in the electrolyte with multiple anodically-connected electrodes arranged directly behind one another and corresponding cathodic strip polarization, followed by anodic strip polarization produced by means of a cathodically-connected electrode. To further remove any scale remaining on the surface of the hot strip, the hot strip is subject to high-pressure fluid spraying or brush aggregates. Renewed electrolytic pickling in performed with at least one electrolyte with multiple exclusively cathodically-connected electrodes and anodic strip polarization.

  • Patent number: 5584984
Abstract: A process and apparatus for electrolytically treating a surface, as for pickling, cleaning and/or degreasing a high-speed continuous metal strip. The strip to be treated is passed through a container holding an electrolyte and including strip electrodes disposed in confrontingly-spaced relation above and below the movement path of the strip. The electrodes are arranged along the movement path in serial adjacency so that each electrode is disposed immediately adjacent to an opposite polarity electrode along the path. Electrolyte is applied to the strip by a number of nozzle pairs, each pair being associated with and arranged on opposite sides of a respective electrode and acting on a region of the strip confrontingly opposite that electrode so as to prevent the electrolyte from entering gap regions defined between adjacent electrodes. This arrangement avoids short circuits through the electrolyte between adjacent, opposite charge electrodes.
