    Abstract: A mechanism for assisting painters and other persons who hold manual tools for long periods of time is disclosed. In the painter embodiment, the mechanism assist painters in gripping a paintbrush, including retaining control of the brush even during non-gripping intervals. The mechanism reduces pain and cramping partly be allowing for frequent release of the grip, thereby lessening pain and cramping. The mechanism also prevents or delays onset of carpal-tunnel by not forcing them to grip their paint laden paintbrush 100% of the time. This reduces a problem arising from a constant application of thumb, forefinger, and auxiliary fingers in a permanent clamping motion.
