  • Patent number: 10962790
Abstract: A depth measurement assembly (DMA) includes a pulsed illuminator assembly, a depth camera assembly, and a controller. The pulsed illuminator assembly has a structured light projector that projects pulses of structured light at a pulse rate into a local area. The depth camera assembly captures images data of an object in the local area illuminated with the pulses of structured light. An exposure interval of the depth camera assembly is pulsed and synchronized to the pulses projected by the pulsed illuminator assembly. The controller controls the pulsed illuminator assembly and the depth camera assembly so that they are synchronized. The controller also determine depth and/or tracking information of the object based on the captured image data. In some embodiments, the pulsed illuminator assembly have a plurality of structured light projectors that projects pulses of structured light at different times.

  • Publication number: 20210090202
Abstract: A system may include an imaging system coupled to a host subsystem. The imaging system may include an image sensor that provides image frames to the host subsystem. The image sensor may include a data authentication subsystem that appends corresponding authentication data to each of the image frames. Each set of authentication data may be generated based on a subset of the image frame data (e.g., corresponding to image data generated by pixels defined by a sparse region-of-interest within the pixel array). The host subsystem may securely provide region-of-interest parameters to the image sensor to update the sparse region-of-interest in an adaptive manner to account for factors such as computational load of the host subsystem and authentication coverage for the entire pixel array.

  • Publication number: 20210082134
Abstract: A depth measurement assembly (DMA) includes an illumination source that projects pulses of light (e.g., structured light) at a temporal pulsing frequency into a local area. The DMA includes a sensor that capture images of the pulses of light reflected from the local area and determines, using one or more of the captured images, one or more TOF phase shifts for the pulses of light. The DMA includes a controller coupled to the sensor and configured to determine a first set of estimated radial distances to an object in the local area based on the one or more TOF phase shifts. The controller determines a second estimated radial distance to the object based on an encoding of structured light and at least one of the captured images. The controller selects an estimated radial distance from the first set of radial distances.

  • Patent number: 10939089
Abstract: A calibration assembly for calibrating a depth sensor. The calibration assembly includes a pathway and a controller coupled to a depth sensor. The pathway is coupled to a light source, and a pulse of light from the light source is directed through the pathway to the depth sensor at a first time. The controller determines a second time at which a measurement of the light pulse detected at an augmented pixel of the depth sensor is read out. The controller computes a readout delay for the augmented pixel based on the first time, the second time, and an estimated travel time for the light pulse from the light source to the augmented pixel. The controller stores the readout delay, and a depth camera that includes the depth sensor is configured to calibrate out the readout delay relative to other augmented pixels of the depth sensor.

  • Patent number: 10929997
Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) determines depth information within a local area by capturing images of the local area including a local region using a plurality of imaging sensors. The local region is represented by a first set of pixels in each captured image. For each image, the DCA identifies the first set of pixels corresponding to the surface in the local region and determines a depth measurement from the DCA to the local region by comparing the first set of pixels from images captured by different imaging sensors. To determine depth measurements for second sets of pixels neighboring the first set of pixels, the DCA selectively propagates depth information from the first set of pixels to second sets of pixels satisfying one or more criteria (e.g., satisfying a threshold saturation measurement or a threshold contrast measurement).

  • Patent number: 10914598
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for proactively re-routing vehicles to control traffic flow. Consistent with some embodiments, the navigation system seeks to reduce traffic flow along primary navigation routes (e.g., routes with relatively short travel times) by re-routing vehicles to alternative navigation routes (e.g., routes with relatively longer travel times) using incentives. As an example, upon detecting a vehicle traveling along an alternative route instead of a primary route, the navigation system updates a data structure that represents a user account of a vehicle occupant to reflect an increased account balance. Consistent with some embodiments, the amount of value provided to an occupant of a vehicle traveling along an alternative routes may be obtained from user accounts of occupants of other vehicles that are traveling along a primary route.

  • Patent number: 10909846
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for detecting traffic disruption events based on an analysis of input component data obtained from navigation-enabled devices of vehicles near a particular location. Traffic disruption events are events such as accidents, construction road closures, police and speed traps, or road hazards that cause a decrease in the flow of traffic along a particular route and thus, added time delays for occupants of vehicles traveling along those routes. The navigation system scores the input component data associated with each vehicle and aggregates the scored input component data to obtain a frustration score associated with the vehicle. The navigation system may detect traffic disruption events based on a number of vehicles near a particular area having associated frustration scores above a certain threshold.

  • Publication number: 20210029213
Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for performing a clustered coherent cloud read cache without coherency messaging. • Patent number: 10902623
Abstract: A camera assembly for depth sensing of a local area. The camera assembly includes a projector, a sensor and a controller. The projector emits, into the local area, a structured light (SL) pattern at multiple phases. The sensor images the local area using multiple augmented pixels. Each augmented pixel has multiple gates and at least some of the gates have a respective local storage location. Each capture phase of the augmented pixel is divided into a respective plurality of time bins associated with a respective subset of the gates. Each local storage location of the subset of gates stores image data during a respective time bin, the image data based on portions of the SL pattern emitted at a respective phase and reflected from the local area. The controller determines depth information for the local area based on the image data stored during at least one capture phase.

  • Patent number: 10904514
Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) includes a polarized structured light generator, an imaging device and a controller. The structured light generator illuminates a local area with one or more polarized structured light patterns in accordance with emission instructions from the controller. The structured light generator comprises an illumination source, an acousto-optic device, and a polarizing element. The acousto-optic device generates a structured light pattern from an optical beam emitted from the illumination source. The polarizing element generates the one or more polarized structured light patterns using the structured light pattern.
