In some embodiments, a colored asphalt-based sealcoat composition comprising titanium oxide particles capable of reducing surface temperatures of asphalt treated with the composition is provided. In some embodiments, a colored asphalt-based sealcoat composition comprising titanium oxide particles capable of reducing atmospheric pollutants is provided. In some embodiments, methods for preparing colored asphalt-based sealcoat compositions as well as their application to asphalt surfaces is provided.
