  • Patent number: 6834521
Abstract: In a method for drying and keeping dry rolled strip in a delivery area of strip-rolling plants, a partition is arranged in the delivery area for separating a damp area of the rolling mill from a dry area. The partition extends from the base plate to the stand platform. The strip is subjected to pressurized gas by the ends of the partition facing the strip at a right angle to the strip surface from above and below. Across the strip width a cushion of a compressed gas is generated and seals a gap between the ends of the partition facing the strip and the upper and lower strip surfaces. The compressed gas is guided away above and below the strip parallel to the strip surface as a split flow toward the rolling mill or the damp area and as a split flow in the opposite direction toward the dry area.

  • Patent number: 5644908
Abstract: A yarn false twist crimping machine which comprises a processing frame which mounts the yarn processing components, a creel for mounting the yarn packages, and a take-up frame which is laterally spaced from the processing frame on the side thereof opposite the creel so as to define an operator aisle therebetween. An elongate heater is mounted to the take-up frame and an elongate cooling plate is mounted to the processing frame, and a false twist unit is mounted to the processing frame below the outlet end of the cooling plate. The yarn is guided from the creel in a generally planar arrangement across the operator aisle and to a first yarn feed system which is mounted on the take-up frame. The yarn then advances through the heater and cooling plate to the false twist unit and so as to loop back through the plane defined by the yarns being fed from the creel.

  • Patent number: 4905355
Abstract: An apparatus and method for processing a warp sheet of synthetic multifilament yarns is disclosed, and wherein the yarns may be withdrawn from supply packages and advanced along a path of travel in warp sheet form, heated and drawn while in advancing warp sheet form to orient the filaments, and then wound for example on a warp beam. Upon detection of a yarn break, the advance of the warp sheet is terminated, and means are provided for interrupting the application of heat to the sheet while the advance is terminated so as to avoid damage to the remaining yarns from a continued application of heat.

  • Patent number: 4644622
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for simultaneously air jet entangling a plurality of advancing multifilament yarns. The apparatus includes a plurality of elongate air jet beams, with each beam having a longitudinal air passageway extending along its length, and at least one row of closely spaced air jet nozzle heads supported along each of the beams. Each of the nozzle heads includes a plurality of individual yarn entanglement nozzles and a central air chamber connecting the central air chamber to the air passageway. Also, an air jet aperture communicates between the air passageway and the yarn duct of each entanglement nozzle for directing an impinging airstream against an advancing yarn passing through the duct. The beams are mounted for adjustment on a supporting frame so that the nozzle heads may be positioned in proper alignment with a sheet of yarns passing therethrough. The beams may be rectangular or round in cross section and the nozzle heads are releasably connected along the length of the beams.

  • Patent number: 4592119
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for simultaneously air jet entangling a plurality of advancing multifilament yarns. The apparatus comprises a plurality of elongate air jet beams, with each beam having a longitudinal air passageway extending along its length, and a plurality of parallel yarn ducts extending transversely through the beam. Also, an air jet aperture communicates between the air passageway and each yarn duct for directing an impinging airstream against an advancing yarn passing through the duct. The beams are mounted to a supporting frame, with the beams being horizontally disposed and vertically spaced apart, and the beams are each mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis which extends longitudinally along its length, and the supporting frame is itself mounted for rotational movement about a horizontal axis which is parallel to the rotational axes of the beams.
