  • Publication number: 20230415472
Abstract: Tooling for supporting workpieces during a printing operation, comprises a support tower comprising a base and a head, the head being positioned vertically above the base in use, the head being relatively moveable with respect to the base in a horizontal plane in use, the head having first and second support surfaces located at an upper end thereof, each of the first and second support surfaces being adapted to support a respective workpiece thereon, wherein the first support surface is relatively moveable with respect to the second support surface in a vertical direction in use between a printing configuration in which the first and second support surfaces are substantially coplanar in the horizontal plane, and a pre-printing configuration in which the first and second support surfaces are spaced in the vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 4737913
Abstract: A vehicle speed control system comprises a memory which stores a signal Vr representing desired road speed which is compared in a comparator with a signal Vs representing actual speed. An actuator responds to any error by adjusting the engine to bring the vehicle to the correct speed. Units are provided to enable the driver to increment or decrement the stored desired speed by small amounts (e.g. 0.5 miles per hour). By means of switches, he can switch into the memory either one of two preset desired speed values. He can also modify these present values, by feeding in, instead, the actual road speed of the vehicle, such modified preset values remaining until the engine is next switched off. The system incorporates a "SOFT OFF" feature, by which, under certain switch off modes of the system, the engine power is not shut off abruptly but at a controlled rate. The system is advantageously implemented by means of a microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 4136396
Abstract: In a data processing system and method, particularly for processing data derived from a gauge which is measuring the thickness of continuous metal strip issuing from a metal processing plant, the value of the measurement data is sampled at successive time instants and the sampled values are processed such as to derive their mean and standard deviations. The successive time instants are randomly or psuedo-randomly distributed in time so as to avoid the possibility of the values of the data samples being affected by, or failing to record, any cyclical variations in the measurement data. The processed data may be used to exert a control function on the processing plant.
