  • Patent number: 7895767
Abstract: A digital depth gauge apparatus is provided for measuring a depth of a hole in, or surface of, an object using a variable-resistance sensor. The apparatus comprises an elongated reader body that includes a distal end and a proximal end having a longitudinal axis and a user interface including a display and at least one actuator that controls operation of at least one of the display and the apparatus. The apparatus includes a probe that extends from the distal end of the reader body, the probe including a tip for locating a distal surface of the object. The reader body proximal end is configured to abut an other surface of the object. An electrical resistance-based sensor is provided to determine an extension distance of the probe from the body.

  • Patent number: 7324156
Abstract: A portability enhancement device (100) for enhancing portability and optical capability of a portable electronic device (102) equipped with a camera (108) and camera lens (110) is provided. The portability enhancement device (100) includes an attachment assembly (112) having a coupling interface (120) attachable to the portable electronic device (102), an optical accessory (122) disposed about the coupling interface (120), and a carrier (124) attached to the attachment assembly (112). When the portability enhancement device (100) is attached to the portable electronic device (102), the portability and the optical function of the portable electronic device (102) is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6922574
Abstract: A wireless communication handset and system having improved antenna performance. The system includes a handset body (300) and multiple housing portions with different antenna loading characteristics, for example different materials or shapes, interchangeably mounted on a common portion of the handset body. The handset body (300) includes electrical communications circuitry coupled to an antenna (314), which is adjacent the interchangeable housing portions. A discrete or integrally formed antenna loading feature compensates for the different antenna loading characteristics of the different housing portions to provide optimal antenna performance regardless of the housing portions mounted on the handset body.

  • Patent number: 6650298
Abstract: A dual band internal antenna for a mobile wireless communication device, having a generally planar radiating element (100) with a high and low band portions, and ground and feed contacts (130, 140) extending from the radiating element. In one embodiment, the width of the ground contact is approximately twice the width of the feed contact. In another embodiment one or more radiating portions (150, 160) extend from the radiating element. In another embodiment, the low band portion has an arm (124) that extends about a tapered lobe (114) of the high band portion.
