  • Publication number: 20120251998
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a method for blood treatment in a single-needle operating mode. The blood treatment device has an extracorporeal blood circuit comprising a blood supply line leading to the inlet of a blood treatment unit and a blood return line leading away from the outlet of the blood treatment unit. Blood collecting means, for example a blood collecting container, is provided in the blood return line, said means being connected to means for storing gas, for example an air reservoir, by a flow line. The flow connection comprises two line branches, one branch being used to transfer gas from the air reservoir into the blood collecting container and the other branch being used to transfer gas from the blood collecting container into the air reservoir. The connection branch for transferring gas from the air store into the blood collecting container contains means for compressing air, for example a compressor.

  • Patent number: 8269953
Abstract: The invention relates to a detector for measuring scattered light in liquids having a housing, a transparent, flexible tube for transporting liquid through the housing, a light emitter, and a light detector. Two parallel surfaces are formed in the housing, between which the tube is arranged such that two opposing tube walls are formed in a planar parallel manner. The light emitter is arranged in such a way that the optical axis thereof is perpendicular to the parallel surfaces of the first tube wall, and the light detector is adjacent to the light emitter, the optical axes of the light emitter and light detector forming an angle smaller than 90°. The invention also relates to a method for detecting the presence of blood and for the quantitative determination of biological marker substances, especially bilirubin, in solution, and to a device for treating blood containing the detector.

  • Publication number: 20120165718
Abstract: A tube set for a blood handling apparatus, in particular an extracorporeal blood handling apparatus with an extracorporeal blood circuit or an apparatus for peritoneal dialysis, and a blood handling apparatus that has such a tube set are described. The tube set includes a device for collecting particles provided in a tube line portion of the tube set downstream of the tube portion placed in the occluding hose pump. The device for collecting particles prevents retention of solid substances that are possibly contained in the dialysis fluid, substituate or peritoneal solution. The tube set also has a device for limiting the pressure in the tube line portion between the occluding hose pump and the device for collecting particles. The device for limiting the positive pressure prevents an excessive positive pressure from building up in the tube line when fluid flow through the device for collecting particles is reduced or interrupted.

  • Publication number: 20100179467
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for controlling a system for transporting blood, and a method for transporting blood in a blood line of an extracorporeal blood circuit of an extracorporeal blood treatment system. The present invention also relates to an extracorporeal blood treatment device comprising such a system for transporting blood. The method and device according to the present invention are based on the fact that a defined threshold value for the pressure in the blood line should not be exceeded. The system for transporting blood is controlled in such a way the blood in the blood line is transported in a pre-determined volume flow as long as the pressure in the blood line is below the pre-determined threshold value. When the pressure in the blood line reaches the pre-defined threshold value, however, the system for transporting blood is controlled such that a pressure value corresponding to the threshold value is set when the blood is transported in the blood line.
