  • Patent number: 12654361
Abstract: Process for deodorization of recycled polyolefin pellets (23) in three steps: In a first step, the moist pellets (23) are contacted with a circulating inert gas at a temperature between 110° C. and 160° C. in a steam stripper (11), and the steam is precipitated in a condensate trap (29). In a second step, the pellets (23) are sent to a vacuum silo (13) under negative pressure and contacted with a gas flowing in countercurrent. In a third step, after the vacuum silo (13) the pellets (23) are sent to a first heat exchanger (15) and contacted with the gas flowing in countercurrent from the second step.

  • Publication number: 20260139115
Abstract: A method for recycling color-mixed polyolefin containers to produce PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) granules includes the following steps: color sorting the containers, comminuting the containers into flakes, first washing step to remove labels from the flakes by using water at a temperature T1, drying the flakes and labels, separating the dried flakes from the dried labels, second washing step to hot wash the flakes by using an alkaline liquid at a temperature T2>80° C. to remove printing ink from the flakes, drying the flakes, sorting the flakes to remove color contamination and foreign polymers, degassing and granulating the flakes in an extruder, decontaminating the granules and making the granules available for further use. The first washing step is carried out without cleaning additives at a temperature T1 between 60° C. and 80° C. while thermal energy is supplied.

  • Publication number: 20260084347
Abstract: A purification method for producing a polyolefin (PO) regenerate (r), including (a) mixing superficially cleaned PO waste (p), referred to as raw polymer (p), with solvent and dissolving the raw polymer (p) in the solvent, (b) recovering the purified polymer from the solvent, (c) preparing the solvent, (d) returning the solvent to step (a), (e) separating residues (e1, e2), and (f) extruding the purified PO regenerate (r) to form pellets (r). Step (c) is carried out using at least one membrane filter (c1).

  • Publication number: 20240262973
Abstract: A method for recycling packaging wastes, referred to as first articles, made of PET or polyolefins (PO), that can be decolored in accordance with the “key-locker” principle, and second articles made of PET or PO, comprising the steps: (a) pre-sorting the first and second articles, (b) pre-washing the articles, (c) comminuting the articles to form flakes, (d) washing the articles, (e) dewatering and drying the flakes, (f) flake sorting, (g) extrusion, (h) solid-state polycondensation (SSP) in the case of PET wastes, or (i) decontamination in the case of PO wastes. The first articles are separated from the second articles by optical sorting and are decolored separate from the second articles in a decoloring step (j) by a reagent referred to as a “key.” The first decolored articles are temporarily stored (m) after step (j). After being stored, the first articles are fed to separate steps (g) and (h) or (i).

  • Publication number: 20230398718
Abstract: Method for recycling trays and blisters made of PET, which are referred to as articles, comprising the following method steps: (a) pre-sorting the articles, (b) comminuting the articles to form flakes, (c) washing the articles in a first washing step, (d) dewatering the flakes, (e) drying the flakes, (f) sorting the flakes, (g) extrusion, and (h) solid-state polycondensation (SSP). The first washing step (c) is a gentle washing step with reduced particle friction and a low temperature below 62° C. During the sorting of the flakes (f), the flakes, which have been gently washed in the first washing step (c), are sorted.

  • Patent number: 10639819
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing polyolefin recyclates, in particular HDPE recyclates. In a specified sequence, color-mixed polyolefin-containing groups are washed at a low temperature, washed at an increased temperature in an alkaline medium, flake-sorted, and treated at an increased temperature in order to remove migration materials. By virtue of the aforementioned method, polyolefin recyclates can be obtained with a substantially improved degree of purity compared to hitherto commercially available recyclates, said recyclates being usable in the production of novel consumer product packaging. Additionally, unpleasant odors connected to known polyolefin recyclates due to the decomposition products of migration materials formed during the extrusion process are largely prevented.
