  • Publication number: 20080011398
Abstract: An electric match including nanoscale particulates of an energetic material and a binder is provided. The energetic material can be a nanoscale thermite metal/metal oxide mixture, a nanoscale intermetallic material mixture, or a nanoscale fuel and oxidant mixture.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 23, 2004
    Publication date: January 17, 2008
Inventors: Darren Naud, Steven Son, Michael Hiskey, James Busse, Blaine Asay
  • Publication number: 20070142643
Abstract: High surface area monolithic foams of essentially pure metal were prepared. Salts of the corresponding metal were prepared as loose powders, pressed into shapes, ignited under an inert atmosphere, and then heated under an atmosphere containing hydrogen to form nanostructured metal foam monoliths of essentially pure metal having a very high surface area.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 27, 2006
    Publication date: June 21, 2007
Inventors: My Huynh, Michael Hiskey, Darren Naud
  • Publication number: 20060211565
Abstract: The high-nitrogen compound of the formula was prepared. Pyrolysis of the compound yields carbon nitrides C2N3 and C3N5. The carbon nitrides vary in their density, texture, and morphology.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 21, 2005
    Publication date: September 21, 2006
Inventors: My Hang Huynh, Michael Hiskey
  • Publication number: 20060078454
Abstract: Nanoporous metal foams are prepared by ignition of high nitrogen transition metal complexes. The ammonium salts of iron(III) tris[bi(tetrazolato)-amine], cobalt(III) tris(bi(tetrazolato)amine), and high nitrogen compounds of copper and silver were prepared as loose powders, pressed into pellets and wafers, and ignited under an inert atmosphere to form nanoporous metal foam monoliths having very high surface area and very low density.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 12, 2004
    Publication date: April 13, 2006
Inventors: Bryce Tappan, My Hang Huynh, Michael Hiskey, Steven Son, David Oschwald, David Chavez

  • Publication number: 20060030715
Abstract: The present invention provides a compound of the formula (Cat)+z[M++(5-nitro-1H-tetrazolato-N2)?x(H2O)y] where x is 3 or 4, y is 2 or 3, x+y is 6, z is 1 or 2, and M++ is selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, chromium, and manganese, and (Cat)+ is selected from the group consisting of ammonium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and cesium. A method of preparing the compound of that formula is also disclosed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 10, 2005
    Publication date: February 9, 2006
    Inventors: Michael Hiskey, My Huynh
