  • Patent number: 8698576
Abstract: An exemplary communication device includes a combiner having a first transmission line configured to be coupled with a first communication component. A second transmission line is configured to be coupled with a second communication component. A third transmission line is coupled with the first and second transmission lines. An isolation module is coupled with the first and second transmission lines. The isolation module has a resistance, a capacitance and an inductance configured to isolate the first communication component from the second communication component if one of the components is inoperative. The isolation module components are also configured to provide RF matching for the first and second transmission lines if one of the components is inoperative.

  • Publication number: 20120281737
Abstract: An exemplary wireless communication device includes a plurality of amplifiers that each provide an output signal. A combiner combines the output signals into a combined signal. A pre-distortion processor is configured to provide signal correction for each of the amplifiers. The pre-distortion processor receives feedback comprising an indication of each of the output signals before the output signals are combined into the combined signal.

  • Publication number: 20060125558
Abstract: An amplifier device (40) includes at least one amplifier (42) having an output. A plurality of conductors (48, 50, 52) are coupled to the output in parallel with each other. The plurality of conductors (48, 50, 52) each has an electrical length that corresponds to a quarter wavelength of a signal amplified by the amplifier. The electrical length of the conductors (48, 50, 52) allows for any one of them to be selectively shorted so that the shorted conductor appears as an open circuit relative to the output of the amplifier (42) and has no effect on the operation of the amplifier device under such circumstances. The disclosed amplifier configuration allows for daisy chain connections for stacking amplifiers to increase amplification in an effectively lossless manner.
