  • Publication number: 20250146713
Abstract: Wellbore synthesis techniques are disclosed suitable for use in geothermal applications. Embodiments are provided where open hole drilled wellbores are sealed while drilling in sequenced operations with utilization of phase change materials to form an impervious layer at the wellbore/formation interface in high temperature applications. The techniques may be chemical, thermal, mechanical, biological and are fully intended to irreversibly damage the formation in terms of the permeability thereof. With the permeability negated, the wellbore may be used to create a closed loop surface to surface geothermal well operable in the absence of well casing for heat transfer surfaces for maximizing thermal transfer to a circulating working fluid. Formulations for the working and drilling fluids are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20250114155
Abstract: A robotic surgical system includes an instrument cart having a setup arm assembly and a control drive assembly coupled to the setup arm assembly. The control drive assembly includes a chassis assembly, a first drive unit and a second drive unit mounted to the chassis assembly, and a leadscrew assembly. Each drive unit is positioned to translate relative to the chassis assembly between a retracted position and an advanced position. The first drive unit couples to a first surgical instrument and the second drive unit couples to a second surgical instrument. The leadscrew assembly is mounted to the chassis assembly and includes a first leadscrew operably associated with the first drive unit and a second leadscrew operably associated with the second drive unit. The first leadscrew rotates to cause the first drive unit to translate relative to the chassis assembly. The second leadscrew rotates to cause the second drive unit to translate relative to the chassis assembly.

  • Patent number: 11047456
Abstract: A variator for a mechanical transmission system is disclosed. Transfer means are in rolling contact with input and output members of the variator to transfer rotary motion between them. The input member is coupled to the variator input through a first biasing device arranged to exert a first biasing force on the variator according to a first, input gain which relates input torque acting on the input member and the first biasing force. The output member is coupled to the variator output through a second biasing device arranged to exert a second biasing force on the variator according to a second, output gain which relates output torque acting on the output member and the second biasing force. The first and second biasing forces clamp the variator to provide traction. The first, input gain and second, output gain are different, which, at least in specific variator applications, optimises the traction coefficient.
