  • Patent number: 7451026
Abstract: A control unit for controlling and/or regulating at least one vehicle function, including at least one computing element and one transceiver for connecting the control unit to at least one data line of a data bus of a client-server network. Using at least one transmitted signal and at least one received signal, the at least one computing element determines if the transceiver is transmitting or receiving data via the at least one data line. In order to provide the option of being able to ascertain the transmitted and received signals without having to pick them off in the interior of the control unit and to direct them outwards, the control unit is connected to the data line via a measurement set-up, the measurement set-up having an arrangement for determining if a change in the state of a data signal applied to the data line originates at the control unit or at the rest of the client-server network.

  • Publication number: 20080025004
Abstract: A method for producing a plastic-coated stamped grid, and a grid producer thereby on which components are disposed and which is embedded in a plastic housing in an injection mold, with the stamped grid being fixed at a fixation point with a fixation element, so that the shape of the stamped grid is preserved during the injection molding operation. As the fixation element, a plastic element is used, which is enclosed by the injected plastic, so that it seals off the fixation point. The housing is produced with a first and a second component, and the stamped grid is enclosed completely by the second component, but terminals for mechanically and/or electrically connecting the stamped grid are not enclosed. The first component opens out to a first outer side and to a second outer side of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6450424
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated valve (1) has a core (5), a solenoid coil (8) and an armature that can be acted upon by the solenoid coil (8) in a stroke direction in opposition to a restoring spring (27), and a valve needle (13). The valve needle (13) is fixedly joined both to the armature (11) as well as to a valve-closure member, which cooperates with a fixed valve seat, and constitutes a movable valve element. On the valve needle (13), between the armature (11) and the valve-closure member, an auxiliary body (30) is arranged, which is movable relative to the valve needle (13). The valve needle (13) is designed as having a driving arrangement (34) such that, in response to a motion of the auxiliary body (30) in the stroke direction, the valve needle (13) can be accelerated in the same direction by energy transfer, and a rapid opening of the valve is realized.

  • Patent number: 5490065
Abstract: A method and a device for testing control units are presented, serving the purpose of operation and quality testing of automotive control units. The method comprises event control of individual test steps with defined signals from and to the test unit, thus reducing the test time. The method, furthermore, encompasses a test with square wave signals applied to the control unit, which are recognized by the control unit and read out to the test unit, thus increasing the depth of the test.

  • Patent number: 5237280
Abstract: The apparatus for measuring spark plug ignition current to monitor combustion in an internal combustion engine includes a spark plug having a spark plug housing containing a spark plug insulating body (12), a pin-shaped central electrode located in the spark plug housing, a ground electrode held in the spark plug housing insulated from the central electrode so as to cooperate with the central electrode and a current measuring resistor (19) for measuring an ignition current of the spark plug. The ground electrode is grounded by electrical connection to the spark plug housing (10) via the measuring resistor (19). The ignition can be monitored by measuring the ignition current passing through the measuring resistor, since the ignition current must pass directly and entirely through the measuring resistor, and the combustion occurring can be assessed from the measured ignition current.

  • Patent number: 5046467
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for setting the throttle flap angle for an internal combustion engine. The system sets the idle stop for the idle throttle flap angle and monitors the setting with respect to defects that occur. If the throttle flap is in contact engagement with the idle stop, a contact is actuated which causes a buffer storage of the actual throttle flap angle which thereby represents the position of the idle stop. If then, for example, the idle stop changes during driving operation, its new position is established upon a renewed contact engagement of the throttle flap, by measuring the throttle flap angle. A possible defect can be established from a comparison of actual and desired values and a positioning motor is then appropriately driven to displace the idle stop. This system has the advantage that a defect occurring in the region of the positioning motor is detected without additional circuit complexity.

  • Patent number: 4713812
Abstract: To reduce waste and scrap of automotive electronic computer-type control apparatus constructed in hybrid technology on a substrate, due to malfunction, incorrect programming or desired change in data stored in the memory chip of a read-only memory (ROM) also applied in hybrid technology to the substrate, the substrate has a socket for a standard plug-insertable ROM or programmable ROM hard-wired connected thereto, the memory chip being enabled by application of a voltage applied to a circuit having a severable bridge (12) so that, upon severance of the bridge, the logic voltage applied to the chip will be of the "disable" value, permitting insertion of a standard ROM or PROM (16) into the additional socket (9) for supply of replacement data, the additional socket being hard-wired to a terminal (15) having an "enable" reference potential thereon.

  • Patent number: 4693111
Abstract: A sensor is disclosed for detecting the position of a movable part in a motor vehicle with a common drive for several position pickups and several paths. The individual paths are traversed at least partly consecutively over the total range so that a position signal with different resolution depending on the path can be made available. This is accomplished by means of individual paths corresponding to different places in the total range. The paths are in the form of resistance paths. The signals picked up can then be associated with electrically different paths for further processing. Paths having the same resolution are also possible.

  • Patent number: 4577605
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for controlling a fuel metering apparatus controlled by a microprocessor and supplemented with an emergency control system. In the event of a microprocessor failure due to a defect, the system attempts to restart the microprocessor. At the same time, an emergency operation pulse generator assumes control of the fuel metering apparatus. Such an emergency control system is particularly suited for fuel metering apparatus which serve to control internal combustion engines for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4572126
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for controlling the overrun mode of operation of an internal combustion engine in dependence on the instantaneous rotational speed and a threshold characteristic of a resume speed. A throttle valve position sensor, a speed comparator and an evaluation circuit for determining a fuel supply cutoff or a fuel metering signal are provided. Means responsive to engine speed or actuable at the operator's discretion permit the circuit to be held in a state in which the overrun cutoff signals are suppressed. If these means are speed-dependent, a dynamic suppression for a predetermined period of time results; the means utilized for suppressing the overrun cutoff function may also be actuated in response to external driving situations or in response to the conditions of other components of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4572142
Abstract: A method of and arrangement for supplying a maximum quantity of fuel which is supplied to a combustion engine in certain operational conditions independent of rate of airflow and rotational speed is provided with an altitude-correcting signal which depends the maximum amount of fuel to be supplied on the air density of the actual operational altitude of the combustion engine. Through the provision of such an altitude-correction signal, a too rich mixture of fuel and air is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4549519
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for overrunning control in an internal combustion engine are proposed, which operate with an overrunning cutoff and the reestablishment rpm of which is dependent on rpm and on time. At the onset of overrunning, a higher reestablishment rpm is selected, and once the rpm falls below a predetermined rpm value the reestablishment rpm is reduced according to a time function to a lower threshold value. The method may be realized by a controlled system, as well as by a control apparatus operating with analog circuitry.
