    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for protecting the electric field distribution of the high voltage semiconductor devices and of the high voltage junction terminating structures from the influences of overlaying interconnections. The proposed methods and apparatus prevent the breakdown voltage of the devices from decreasing. At the same time, circuit areas are reduced and parasitic resistances inherent to the conventional approach are eliminated or minimized.

A friend object is generated indicating objects from external classes external to the class including the sensitive function. The objects indicated in the friend object are capable of being modified during runtime. A call from an external function in one class external to the class including the sensitive function is processed during runtime. The calling function is permitted access to the sensitive function if the friend object indicates that the calling function can access the sensitive function.

    Abstract: The described DC to AC inverter efficiently controls the amount of electrical power used to drive a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). The output is a fairly pure sine wave which is proportional to an input control voltage. The output waveform purity is ensured by driving a symmetrical rectangular waveform into a second-order, low pass filter at the resonant frequency of the filter for all conditions of line voltage and delivered power. Operating stress on the step-up transformer is minimized by placing the load (lamp) directly across the secondary side of the transformer. When configured to regulate delivered power, the secondary side may be fully floated which practically eliminates a thermometer effect on the operation of the lamp. All of the active elements, including the power switches, may be integrated into a monolithic silicon circuit.

The authentication key is parsed to obtain a parsed user name and computer identifier. The parsed user name and computer identifier are validated using the received user name and computer identifier. Additionally, if the received user name and computer identifier are validated, the authentication key is parsed to obtain a server user identifier and a server password. Then, the parsed server user identifier and server password are used to connect to a database server computer.

    Abstract: A system, a program storage device and a software method for efficient handling of multiple Unicode formats in the same database on a table level is provided. The routines of the method are used to create a plurality of database tables and specify each table data storage format, including a first table for storing data in a first Unicode format and a second table for storing data in a second Unicode format. The method inputs characters which are encoded in the first Unicode format. When the data should be stored in the second Unicode format, the method uses a conversion routine for transforming some inputted characters into the second Unicode format and stores them in the second table, and then stores unconverted inputted characters in the first table. The first Unicode format is preferably the UCS-2 format and the second Unicode format is the UTF-8 format.

The inorganic phosphor with modified surface property can be uniformly mixed in the glue and less deposition is produced.
