Patent number: 12147959Abstract: A system, method and computer readable medium for dynamically determining location-based rules affecting item sales at POS registers for a particular location and for distributing the location-based rules to the POS registers is discussed. A location-based ruleset of rules regulating sales of items at an individual store is created and transmitted to the store along with a rule group to item map file that maps rules and warnings to individual store items. A rules engine at the store provides updated item sale rules and warnings to POS registers based on the location-based ruleset and rule group to item map file. Embodiments thus provide an improved system for updating POS registers at different store locations with location-based rules specific to the store location.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2023Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: Walmart Apollo, LLCInventors: Shuvro Chakrobartty, Edward Sherrill, Gopi Kishore Danda, Britto Michaelsamy, Prasanna Rajendran, John Michael Humphrey

Publication number: 20240267671Abstract: Improvements in a bollard speaker with in-ground subwoofer where the bollard contains a first speaker for higher frequencies and the subwoofer that provides lower frequencies that emit from below ground up through the bollard through a grill in the middle or upper portion of the bollard. The in-ground subwoofer provides a structural foundation for the bollard. Placing the subwoofer in an underground housing allows for larger speaker sizes for improved lower frequency response without trying to produce low frequency sounds in a constrained vertical bollard housing pole. The same base subwoofer is used with interchangeable bollards that accommodate both a cylindrical and a square or rectangular above ground bollard. The speaker within the bollard is configurable for omni-directional or directional sound transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2023Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: Origin Acoustics, LLCInventors: Joseph Whitaker, Michael Hopkins, Tyler Humphreys, Nick Berry

Publication number: 20240200403Abstract: The torsion spring is disposed around an axle/shaft and fixed to the axle/shaft at one end, such that the torsion spring rotates with the door drum and fixed to a spring plate as a stationary structure at the other end. The spring plate does not rotate while the torsion spring rotates. The torsional forces created in the spring by the rotation of the door drum provides a variable torque which counteracts the weight of the flexible door. As the flexible door is lowered, the torsional forces developed in the spring pull in the opposite direction of the travel of the flexible door. The amount of tension resulting from the torsional forces generated in the torsion spring determines the performance characteristics of the flexible door.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2022Publication date: June 20, 2024Inventors: Michael HUMPHREY, Dylan PETTIT, Mike STANICK, John BUTTERICK

Patent number: 11387087Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable storage medium for analyzing component separation/mass spectrometer data for a sample having known characteristic includes analyzing reference ion data for a relationship between ion mass, retention time, and intensity. The analyzed data is added to a repository, wherein each ion therein has an intensity maxima within a characteristic retention time range for a characteristic ion mass. If the reference ion is in the repository, the range is modified according to the characteristic retention time of the reference ion intensity maxima. Based on the known characteristic, an ion expected in the sample is selected from the repository, and sample data is compared to data for the ion selected from the repository to determine whether the ion is present in the sample. The range in the repository is then modified according to the characteristic retention time of the intensity maxima for the ion present in the sample.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2020Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: Metabolon, Inc.Inventors: William Lefew, David V. Patent number: 10841152Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for creating and configuring computing clusters on a cloud computing platform. One of the methods includes receiving, by a service broker, a user input requesting creation of a computing cluster. The service broker generates, based at least in part on one or more release templates and the user input, a deployment manifest that specifies components and properties of a deployment of one or more clusters of a container orchestrator. The service broker provides the deployment manifest to a deployment manager. The deployment manager creates, according to the deployment manifest, one or more computing clusters in which one or more containerized applications are managed by the container orchestrator. Each computing cluster is configured to execute, in a user space, a containerized application specified by the container orchestrator. References to the computing cluster(s) are provided to a user device.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2018Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: Pivotal Software, Inc.Inventor: Colin Michael Humphreys

Patent number: 10735278Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for computing availability metrics for an integrated service. One of the methods includes generating, for a service installed on a software platform, a plurality of availability logs, each availability log representing an occurrence of the service becoming unavailable. The plurality of availability logs are aggregated according to one or more aggregation criteria. The aggregated availability logs are processed to compute one or more availability metrics for the service, wherein each availability metric quantifies the availability of the service to process requests from the plurality of workloads in the presence of system failures and interruptions. An availability rating for the service is computed from the one or more availability metrics.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2019Date of Patent: August 4, 2020Assignee: Pivotal Software, Inc.Inventors: Onsi Joe Fakhouri, Amit Kumar Gupta, Colin Michael Humphreys

Patent number: 10379968Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for backing up and restore a deployment on a cloud computing platform are described. A deployment on a cloud computing platform includes a set of virtual machines and corresponding disks. A deployment may include multiple subunits designated as deployment jobs. A respective job specification file specifies respective resources used by each deployment job. The resources include various scripts specifying actions to take before, during, and after a backup. A backup orchestrator, upon receiving a backup request for the deployment, executes the scripts in a pre-specified sequence ordered by script type. When a particular type of scripts executes, the corresponding script for each deployment job, if specified in the specification file to correspond to that type, executes. When all scripts of a particular type finish execution, scripts having a next type execute. Accordingly, the operations of backing up multiple deployment jobs are synchronized and orchestrated.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2017Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Pivotal Software, Inc.Inventors: Therese Louise Stowell, Kalyan Chakravarthy Dudala, Colin Michael Humphreys, Simon James Jones, Jatin Naik, Alvaro Perez-Shirley, Henry Arthur James Stanley
