  • Patent number: 11663254
Abstract: The present invention provides a seeded news event clustering and retrieval system configured to first create a candidate data set of documents, second create a set of initial clusters based on nearness or duplicate similarity status, and third create an aggregate cluster by merging initial clusters with seed documents. The invention generates top-level clusters for news events based on an editorially supplied topical label or “seed” component and generates sub-topic-focused clusters based on algorithm. The system uses an agglomerative clustering algorithm to gather and structure documents into distinct result sets.

  • Patent number: 6230609
Abstract: A pump diaphragm includes a layer fabricated from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and an integral stud. In one embodiment, the stud is encapsulated within a hub assembly fabricated from PTFE and fastened to the PTFE layer with adhesive or welding, etc. In alternate embodiments, the stud may be molded in-situ with the PTFE layer using various methodology, including pressing the stud onto a heated PTFE layer. The PTFE layer then may be subjected to various forming operations to provide the diaphragm with desired dimensions and/or properties. Moreover, an additional layer or layers, such as an elastomeric layer, may be laminated onto an inside surface of the PTFE layer to provide a composite pump diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 6152419
Abstract: An anti-theft device for securing one's personal belongings, such as a coat, handbag and the like, to the interior wall surface of a commode door wherein a bail is secured to the door by a plate. The bail has spaced, oppositely extending bent threaded end portions having a sleeve threadably mounted thereon for closing the space therebetween. The loop or handle of a person's belongings is inserted through the space between the bent threaded end portions and supported by one of the bent end portions. The sleeve is turned to close the space between the end portions, and thus, secures the handle or loop within the confines of the bail. A chain is connectable to the bail for securing a personal belonging thereto.

  • Patent number: 6138550
Abstract: A composite pump diaphragm 10 includes a layer 12 fabricated from annealed polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) bonded to a layer 14 fabricated from an unreinforced thermoplastic elastomer including ethylene-propylene terpolymer (EPDM) and polypropylene. The diaphragm 10 is fabricated by chemically etching the PTFE layer 12, coating a surface thereof with a polyurethane adhesive, superimposing the layer 14 with layer 12 under heat and pressure, and allowing the superimposed layers to cure.

  • Patent number: 4426090
Abstract: An exclusion seal for being removably mounted in a bearing mount is formed with an annular housing with an internal sealing means having a sealing ring is constructed to prevent a "blow-out" of the seal due to the high lubricant pressure. The annular housing has an annular ring wall and a radially extending wall defining an annular chamber in which is received the annular sealing ring which has an annular sealing surface for sealing engagement with an annular surface on a rotating shaft or on a bearing mount. The annular housing is often compressible to have a press fit connection to the bearing mount. One side of the seal is exposed to the grease and if the grease pressure exceeds a predetermined value the sealing ring shifts axially against a biasing force to uncover an outlet orifice formed in the ring wall of the housing to permit lubricant to escape. When the lubricant pressure drops below the predetermined value, the biasing force returns the sealing ring to again cover the outlet orifice.
