Abstract: The invention relates to a sound hole covering that prevents foreign items from entering into the body of an instrument, while minimizing the effects the covering may cause to the sound quality of the instrument. One such device for preventing a plectrum from entering into a body of an instrument may include, but is not limited to, a sound hole covering having a grid-like structure and a base clip, where one end of the base clip enters into the sound hole and pushes against a back surface of the soundboard while the covering is pressed against a top surface of the soundboard the other end of the base clip to enters into the sound hole in a similar fashion.
