  • Patent number: 9157734
Abstract: An optical automatic attitude measurement device for a lightweight portable optical system is disclosed. In one embodiment, a first optical device is configured to provide an attitude beam. A second optical device mechanically coupled to the first optical device to a lose tolerance. The second optical device is configured to provide a reference beam and to receive the attitude beam from the first optical device. • Publication number: 20150143732
Abstract: A system and method of aligning an accessory aimpoint to an aimpoint of a device are disclosed. In one embodiment, an aimpoint that can be viewed through a weapon sight is projected from a device mounted on a weapon. Further, an accessory aimpoint is projected on the weapon sight by an accessory device that is mounted on the weapon in front of the weapon sight. Furthermore, the accessory aimpoint is pre-mission aligned to the aimpoint of the device by electronically adjusting a position of the accessory aimpoint to align with the aimpoint of the device on the weapon sight.

  • Publication number: 20150098617
Abstract: A scene correlation-based target system and related methods are provided. A reference image depicts a remotely-positioned object having identifiable characteristics, wherein a reference directional vector is established relative to the reference image. A target image of a general vicinity of the remotely-positioned object has an unknown directional vector, the target image having at least a portion of the identifiable characteristics. An inertial measuring unit has a scene correlation system, wherein the scene correlation system matches the portion of the identifiable characteristics of the target image with the identifiable characteristics of the reference image, wherein a slew angle between the reference image and the target image is calculated. A target image directional vector is derived from the calculated slew angle and the reference directional vector.

  • Publication number: 20150077547
Abstract: A system for measuring an attitude between optical devices is disclosed. In an embodiment, the system includes a plurality of optical devices and a hub. Further, the hub includes a plurality of attitude measurement and control subsystems (AMCSs) that are aligned with a predetermined angle during factory calibration. Each AMCS is connected to one of the optical devices and each AMCS measures an attitude between an AMCS and a corresponding optical device connected to the AMCS. Furthermore, the hub includes an attitude measurement unit to measure the attitude between the optical devices based on the measured attitude between each AMCS and a corresponding connected optical device and the predetermined angle between the AMCSs.

  • Publication number: 20140092255
Abstract: A method for correlating an image to align two sensors comprising the steps of centering an imaging unit on a landmark that provides good contrast and distinct edges so as to provide a scene, taking a snapshot of the scene from both sensors, applying a Sobel edge filter to the image from both sensors to create two strong edge maps, cropping a small block of one image centered about the landmark and cross-correlating it on a larger region centered on an expected position of the landmark in the other image, and from the position of the strongest correlation peak determining the position of the center of the block from the first image, providing the difference in the alignment of the two sensors.
