Patent number: 11955747Abstract: A watertight electrical connection system to flat-wire conductors of a flexible circuit is described including a watertight electrical connector that houses connector terminals within a cavity. A contact surface of the watertight electrical connector is configured to mate with a connection area on a surface of the flexible circuit. The connection area is of variable thickness. A seal surrounds an opening to the cavity to form a watertight connection between the connector terminals and one or more of the flat-wire conductors within the connection area on the surface of the flexible circuit. A retainer fits over the flexible circuit and onto the watertight electrical connector to compress the seal and form the watertight connection between the surface of the flexible circuit and the contact surface, which is of variable thickness.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2020Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: APTIV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITEDInventors: Duane Lee Brantingham, Michael J. Demonica, Jr.

Publication number: 20230088130Abstract: A connector assembly includes a first housing having an indicium imprinted thereon and a movable member movable from a first position configured to render the indicium illegible to an optical scanning device to a second position configured to render the indicium legible to the optical scanning device. The indicium is visible when the movable member is in the first position and when the movable member is in the second position. A method of mating a connector assembly having a movable member and an indicum imprinted thereon is also presented.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2022Publication date: March 23, 2023Inventors: Bart N. Patent number: 10741975Abstract: An electromagnetic shield terminal assembly configured for attachment to a shielded cable includes a tubular inner ferrule having a flared attachment end configured to be disposed intermediate the shield conductor and the inner insulation layer of the cable and a crimped outer ferrule formed of sheet metal having a cable attachment portion that defines a pair of bypass crimp wings and a pair of insulation crimp wings. Each insulation crimp wing defines a prong having a pointed end that penetrates the outer insulation layer of the cable. The flared attachment end of the inner ferrule is located intermediate the bypass crimp wings and the insulation crimp wings when the outer ferrule is crimped to the shielded cable.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2019Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: APTIV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITEDInventors: Leslie L. Jones, Nicole L. Liptak, Michael D. Messuri, Jared Bilas, Michael J. Demonica, Christopher A. Margrave, Dominic A. Messuri, James P. Schuster

Patent number: 10355379Abstract: An assembly includes an elongate conductor, such as a coaxial electrical cable, having a generally circular cross section and a generally cylindrical seamless outer ferrule having a ferrule radius surrounding a portion of the conductor. The outer ferrule is deformed to define four indentations and four projections that are evenly spaced about a circumference of the outer ferrule. The four indentations have a consistent indentation radius that is less than the ferrule radius.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2018Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Ryan D. Patent number: 7963787Abstract: An electronic assembly comprises a printed circuit board that has an electronic component that is attached mechanically and electrically to the printed circuit board by soldering. A plastic header connector covers the electronic component and provides a socket for the electronic component when the plastic header connector is attached to the printed circuit board solely by portions of the plastic header connector.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2008Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 7658642Abstract: An electrical connector has a connector body in the form of a molded plastic pass through article that has a cylindrical portion that is inserted into a panel hole. The article has a flange at one end of the cylindrical portion engaging an insertion side of the panel, and a plurality of supports extending from an opposite end of the cylindrical portion in an axial direction away from the cylindrical portion. A plurality of flexible transverse lock arms are attached to the plurality of supports and extend therefrom in cantilever fashion. The plurality of flexible transverse lock arms are spaced from the cylindrical portion in the axial direction and terminate in lock feet that engage the back side of the panel.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2007Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Demonica, William G. Strang

Patent number: 7641511Abstract: An electrical jack cable assembly includes a jack cable connector and an adaptor coupling for attaching the connector to a support. The adaptor coupling has a face plate and a tray that extends to a rear wall. The connector body is retained in the tray behind the abutment wall so that the rear wall resists any movement of the connector body with respect to the adaptor coupling in the plug-in direction. The jack cable assembly is made by providing a jack cable connector providing an adaptor coupling having a tray that extends rearwardly to a rear wall and assembling the connector body to the tray by slanting the connector body and inserting the slanted connector body into the tray until it passes over the rear wall of the tray. The rear end of the connector body is then pushed down for retaining the connector body firmly and positively in the tray.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2007Date of Patent: January 5, 2010Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. DeMonica, Michael E. Francis, John A. Yurtin
