    Abstract: A surgical instrument assembly includes a metallic hemispherical component and a driver component removably coupled to the hemispherical component. The metallic hemispherical component has a convex outer surface configured to engage a patient's natural acetabulum, a concave inner surface positioned opposite the outer surface and defining a cavity in the hemispherical component, a plurality of cutting teeth extending outwardly from the outer surface, and a plurality of apertures defined in the inner surface. The driver component has a shank and a plurality of ribs secured to, and extending outwardly from, the shank. Each rib has a tab that is received in a corresponding aperture of the hemispherical component to secure the driver component to the hemispherical component.

    Abstract: Surgical instruments and methods for use in implanting a modular femoral prosthesis during performance of a hip revision procedure are disclosed, and include a distal reamer operable to ream an intramedullary canal of a patient's femur during a surgical procedure. The distal reamer includes an elongated shank having a cutting head formed in a distal end of the elongated shank and a drive connector formed in a sidewall positioned at an opposite, proximal end of the elongated shank. The cutting head has a plurality of helical cutting flutes arranged in a geometry that corresponds with the geometry of the distal stem component. The drive connector has a female drive socket and a number of locking slots formed in the sidewall so as to open into the female drive socket.

In the first position, the retaining pin inhibits distal movement of the striking assembly. In the second position, the retaining pin does not inhibit distal movement of the striking assembly. The actuator component includes a reloading channel. The actuator component is movable between a third position and a fourth position. In the third position, the retaining pin is in the first position and the retaining pin cannot be forced along the reloading channel. In the fourth position, the striking assembly can be used to move the retaining pin along the reloading channel.
