The support piston has a plurality of fins formed on an outer portion thereof, and shear device, operatively attached to the top sub and the support piston, for attaching and detaching the top sub from the support piston. The collet member may include a plurality of fingers having a gap between each individual finger.     Abstract: A connection apparatus. The apparatus comprises a wing mandrel having a first check valve disposed within an inner bore of the wing mandrel, a thread mandrel abutting the wing mandrel, with the thread mandrel having outer threads and a second check valve disposed within an inner bore of the thread mandrel. The apparatus further comprises a latch dog carrier disposed about the wing mandrel and the thread mandrel, with the latch dog carrier having a plurality of dogs, wherein the dogs having an inner portion with threads and an outer portion with outer ribs. The apparatus further contains a shell partially disposed about the latch dog carrier, with the shell having inner ribs, and wherein the inner ribs of the shell engage the outer ribs of the dogs. The apparatus further comprises a hydraulic port configured to deliver hydraulic fluid to the latch dog carrier so that the shell moves relative to the latch dog carrier in order to disconnect. A method of releasing a union is also disclosed.

The apparatus further includes a sleeve disposed within the housing, with the sleeve being constructed of a non-magnetic conduction material. A magnet is disposed within the sleeve, with the magnet having a north pole and a south pole. The apparatus further includes a container disposed within the sleeve, the container having a second wall. In the most preferred embodiment, the first wall defines a first pathway for magnetic lines of flux for the north pole of the magnet and wherein the second wall defines a second pathway for magnetic lines of flux for the south pole of the magnet so that a toroidal magnetic field is formed about the distal end of the sleeve.

Generally, the apparatus comprises a housing, a piston having a first section and a second section, and a venturi member, operatively associated with the piston, adapted for creating a zone of low pressure. In one embodiment, the housing is attached to a work string and the piston is attached to a bottom hole assembly. The first section of the piston and the housing forms a first chamber. The second section of the piston and the housing forms a second chamber. The venturi member contains a first passageway for communicating the zone of low pressure created by the venturi member with the first chamber; and a second passageway for communicating the inner diameter of the venturi means with the second chamber.

The device will include a mandrel connected to a work string and with an end adapted to engage the object. The device also includes a biasing member disposed about the mandrel; and, a collet member operatively disposed about the mandrel. The collet member will have a first end adapted to cooperate with the biasing member and a second end that contains an engaging member, operatively associated with the second end of the mandrel, for engaging the object. The mandrel and the collet member cooperate to form a chamber. The device will also include a locking member, contained within the chamber, for locking the mandrel and collet member together so that the mandrel and collet member act as one member.

    Abstract: A novel venturi device located within a tubular member for accelerating the flow of an effluent is disclosed. The device will generally comprise a tubular member containing a throat section, a diffuser section and an opening contained on the tubular member for allowing the injection of a gas therethrough. The device also includes an inner mandrel contained within the tubular member. The inner mandrel contains a nozzle member defining an internal chamber. The inner mandrel also contains a first passageway and a second passageway for directing the effluent therethrough. The nozzle is operatively associated with the opening contained on the tubular member. In one embodiment, a flow diverter member is included for diverting the production effluent into the first passageway and into the nozzle annulus. A method of accelerating production with a venturi device within a tubing string is also disclosed.

Latch blocks, extending radially through openings of the male extension and into annular grooves of the mating female recess, connect the first and second housings together. Fluid flow is permitted through axial bores of the first tubular housing, pilot piston, slotted piston and second tubular housing.
