  • Patent number: 9064163
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) enabled crate (50) includes: a plurality of sides (52); an RFID inlay (54) supported on a first one of the plurality of sides; and an antenna (56) coupled to the RFID inlay (54). Suitably, the antenna (56) extends at least partially across at least a second one of the plurality of sides (52), the second one of the sides being different from the first one where the RFID inlay (54) is located.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 25, 2010
Date of Patent: June 23, 2015
    Assignee: Avery Dennison Corporation
Inventors: Peter C. Phaneuf, Michael J. Isabell
  • Patent number: 8593256
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) device including: a circuit provisioned to communicate an identification code to an RFID reader; a first antenna operatively connected to the circuit; and a radiating structure inductive coupled to the first antenna.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 2009
Date of Patent: November 26, 2013

  • Patent number: 7893887
Abstract: An antenna for use with an RFID device reader includes a metallic plate and multiple antenna elements attached to the metallic plate. The antenna elements may consist of two prongs each, with the prongs of each element arrayed in a diagonal configuration, and with the two prongs forming an X-shape. Each of the prongs may include a pair of L-shape prong parts that are coupled together by an electrical element connecting the corners of the L-shape prong parts. The distal ends of all of the prong parts of the antenna elements may together form a substantially square shape. Each of the antenna elements may be coupled to a single conductor, for connection to an RFID reader. The connection may be through a suitable standard coupling, such as a coaxial cable with a suitable connector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2007
Date of Patent: February 22, 2011
    Assignee: Avery Dennison Corporation

  • Publication number: 20080180217
Abstract: A method and system for making a label. The label can include a circuit disposed on a face of a substrate. The substrate may also contain printed indicia. The substrate may further be sealed using a laminate and an adhesive layer may be applied to a portion of the seal. The label may further include a release layer that covers the adhesive prior to adhering the label to a container.
