  • Patent number: 8930271
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for providing offers to a mobile device includes receiving at least one offer from at least one merchant at an offer computer system and determining, by the offer computer system, an offer to present on the mobile device based on at least one characteristic of a user of the mobile device, the offer providing the user a discount from a price of a product or service. The method includes receiving a request for a code to provide to a merchant, the code being generated for the mobile device that belongs to the user. The method includes receiving, from a mobile device, an indication from the user to use the offer and sending, by the offer computer system, to the mobile device an offer code to be displayed on the mobile device to be received by a merchant.

  • Patent number: 8924292
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method includes receiving a request to perform a transaction between a user having a mobile device and the user having account at a financial institution and a merchant. The method includes determining a first location of the user based on a location of the mobile device and the method includes determining a second location of the user based on a location of the merchant. The first and second locations are compared to ensure a match between the two locations. The method further includes receiving an identifier that is embedded in a code that is displayable on the mobile device. The method includes transmitting an indication that the transaction has been completed based on the identifier and based on the match of the first and second location.

  • Patent number: 8126445
Abstract: A system for universally controlling the functionality of portable electronic devices in a localized geospatial area is disclosed. A control signal encoded with instructions based on a predetermined protocol is sent from a RF control point transmitter. The encoded signal is received and decoded by portable electronic devices in the area and an action is performed in response to the control signal. Actions can include enabling or disabling a specific function of the portable electronic device, displaying messages on the portable electronic device, or transmitting information from the portable electronic device back to the control point. Actions remain active while in that area or for specified time periods to various levels of precision and reliability through a combination of settings or timing functions.

  • Patent number: 7867776
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for priming sample substrates such as DNA sipper chips are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a priming system that is suitable for priming a substrate which has a plurality of wells and at least one channel includes a base unit and a top unit. The base unit is arranged to accommodate, or support, the substrate. The top unit, which is substantially physically separate from the base unit, fits over the substrate when the substrate is held by the base unit. The top unit includes an adapter portion that interfaces with the substrate. Included in the adapter portion is a first cavity that is used to facilitate pressurizing a first well of the substrate when the adapter portion is interfaced with the substrate such that the first cavity is aligned with the first well.
