  • Patent number: 5519790
Abstract: A method for reducing noise in digital video information is provided which includes the use of key frames, whereby pixel values for a key frame replace the corresponding pixel values for corresponding pixels of all subsequent frames prior to another key frame, as long as the pixel values being replaced do not differ from the key frame values by more than a predetermined threshold. A key frame, once established, is compared to a next frame to determine whether the next frame should be designated another key frame. The next frame should be designated another key frame when more than a predetermined portion of the pixels of the next frame differ from corresponding pixels of the original key frame by more than a predetermined threshold. The method proceeds recursively until all pixels of all frames are resolved by having their values replaced by key frame values. The method may include data compression as an integral part thereof.

  • Patent number: 5388202
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating realistic window borders of windows of a range of sizes for display on a display screen in a windowing environment. Realistic window borders with simulated 3-D characteristics and the appearance of real structures and materials such as wood, stone, etc., are provided within a windowing display environment by first generating and inputting realistic pictorial frame elements, sizing the realistic frame elements in accordance with the desired size of the window and generating location information for each element based upon the desired size of the window. The sized frame elements are then assembled using the location information and displayed on the screen of the system display device.

  • Patent number: 5367262
Abstract: The present apparatus and method are directed to a high frequency dielectric measurement system for use in logging a well borehole. A transmitter transducer cooperative with one or more receiver transducers arranged on a common pad is utilized to make such measurements. Typically they occur in the gigahertz range. One feature of the present disclosure is the indication of the apparent water filled porosity of formations. Another feature relates to the formation of a quality curve obtained by breaking down the formation measurements into real and reactive components.
