  • Publication number: 20020101074
Abstract: A tri-fold label with a separable packing list and adhesive backing enclosure including a single label that is formed into a shipping label, a packing list, and a packing list enclosure. The back of the shipping label and the packing list enclosure are coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive layer. Thus, the shipping label may be removed from a backing sheet and applied to any desired supporting surface, such as, for example, an exterior surface of a container. The packing list portion of the tri-fold label can be Z-folded in such a manner as to form a multi-layer laminate with the packing list enclosure completely covering and enclosing the folded packing list. Thus, the packing list enclosure (including the packing list) can be separately applied to, for example, another portion of the exterior surface of the container.

  • Patent number: 6024903
Abstract: An improved process for producing integral, composite handles having cushioned comfort grips, for appliances such as electric steam irons, comprising a first step of injection molding a one-piece handle substrate of strong, rigid, resinous composition having the desired predetermined shape and design, including a recessed, wrap-around area corresponding to the area of the handle which will be gripped by the hand of the eventual user of appliance. The present process comprises a second step of injection molding an integral, outer, soft, contoured layer of foamed resin into the recessed, wrap-around area of the rigid plastic handle substrate, to form a smooth, compressible, comfort grip surface area of the composite handle for engagement with the hand of the user.

  • Patent number: 5799420
Abstract: A steam iron having a water tank with an internal air trap and external gear mounts. The air trap holds a volume of air when the iron is being filled with water, but receives water when the iron is moved to a horizontal position to prevent water from spilling out of a water fill spout. The iron has gears that connect a temperature control of the iron to a water metering valve. The gears are stabily rotatably mounted directed to the water tank on the gear mounts.

  • Patent number: 5768808
Abstract: A steam iron having a soleplate, a housing, an electric cord extending into the housing through a bushing pivotably mounted to the housing, and a retaining member mounted to the housing. The retaining member has a first section with a snap-off rib that forms a strain relief with the housing for the electric cord. The retaining member also has a second section with a curved portion that forms part of the pivotable connection of the electric cord bushing to the housing. A third section of the retaining member is a cantilevered arm that holds an electronic module against the housing.

  • Patent number: 5730469
Abstract: A combination shipping and packing list label includes a face stock having a front face and a back face. The front face has an exposed, printable, generally planar surface. The printable surface is divided into a first printable are a and a second printable area separated from one another by a common edge along one side thereof. The face stock has a border area substantially surrounding at least three sides of the first printable area. An adhesive layer is disposed on at least a portion of the back face of the face stock for allowing the face stock to be adhesively applied to any desired supporting surface. A backing layer includes a carrier strip with a non-stick surface. The backing layer removably covers the adhesive layer connected to the back face of the face stock.

  • Patent number: 5471013
Abstract: A strain relief for an electrical supply cord of an electrical appliance includes a first member pivotally connected to the housing of the appliance. The member includes a generally planar surface. A second member is connected to the housing and has a generally planar surface facing and parallel to the planar surface of the first member. The planar surfaces are spaced from each other to define an electrical supply cord receiving slot. An electrical supply cord is movably disposed in the slot in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the cord. Movement of the cord in either longitudinal direction causes the first member to rotate relative to the second member so that as the planar surface of the first member moves relative to the planar surface of the second member the width of the cord receiving slot is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4743736
Abstract: Switching apparatus for an electric iron control circuit includes a control switch assembly having a commutator switch and an on/off switch, including a pair of conductive members mounted on an insulating base. Each of the conductive members includes a plurality of conductive fingers interleaved so as to maintain electrical isolation between the conductive members. A rotary contact geared to the temperature control of an iron includes a contact member which alternately bridges and isolates the conductive fingers such that movement of the temperature select knob creates an interrupting signal between terminals connected to the conductive members. When the movable contact is in a predetermined position, a leaf contact is separated from a fixed contact so as to establish an on/off switch control. The base is pivotally mounted to the housing of the iron.
