  • Publication number: 20080181815
Abstract: Haloamine biocides are prepared via multi-step processes in an integrated apparatus comprising an electrochemical cell and a mixing chamber, wherein active halogen donor species are electrochemically generated and subsequently reacted with amine-containing compositions to form haloamine biocide. Haloamine biocides prepared according to such processes are used to treat liquids in order to inhibit, reduce, and/or control microorganism growth therein.

  • Patent number: 7311878
Abstract: An apparatus and methods to produce synergistic mixtures (or combinations) of haloamines to control growth of microorganisms in aqueous systems are disclosed. The apparatus and methods to produce synergistic mixtures entails producing a batch quantity of a haloamine and converting part of the haloamine to a second haloamine species to form the synergistic mixture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 2006
Date of Patent: December 25, 2007
    Assignee: Hercules Incorporated
Inventors: Freddie L. Singleton, Michael J. Mayer, Alexander W. Breen
  • Patent number: 7008545
Abstract: Synergistic mixtures of biocides and their use to control the growth of microorganisms in aqueous systems are disclosed. The method of using the synergistic mixtures entails adding an effective amount of a nitrogenous compound activated by an oxidant and at least one non-oxidizing biocide to an aqueous system. The amount of activated nitrogenous compound and non-oxidizing biocide is selected to result in a synergistic biocidal effect.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 2002
Date of Patent: March 7, 2006

  • Patent number: 5537727
Abstract: A tool for releasing a connector from a fitting coupled together by a retainer element through movement of an integral release member mounted in the connector. The tool includes a pair of pivotally connected jaw levers, each with a bifurcated jaw end. The bifurcated jaws engage the connector and simultaneously slidably urge the release member into the connector to disengage the retainer element from the fitting to enable the decoupling and separation of the fitting and the connector. The jaws are of thin planer construction for insertion between the outer end of the release member and surrounding structure where access space is limited.

  • Patent number: 5285775
Abstract: A manually-operated surgical breathing bag for artificial respiration of human beings. The subject bag includes a gas tight, elastomeric, self-expanding and preferably elongated hollow body and an attached port which serves as both a gas inlet and outlet opening. The bag's elongated hollow body is provided with an "hourglass" configuration having a narrowed central portion as an aid for grasping. In order to apply artificial respiration to an individual, the hollow body is grasped with one hand, the fingers spanning the periphery of the hollow body at its narrowed central portion, and compressed with this hand thereby expelling gas toward an individual's lungs.
