Publication number: 20020079067Abstract: A horizontal mount for retaining a headrail of a window covering within a recessed window frame. The mount includes an elongate, generally U-shape structure having two opposing generally parallel forward and rearward arms and a generally flat arm-connecting member, with the latter positionable against the top horizontal frame site of the recessed window frame such that the U-shape is inverted. Each arm is outwardly spring biased from the other arm and has a structured retainment portion for exteriorly accepting and tensionally retaining opposing elongate distal ends of the headrail. In a preferred embodiment, the structured retainment portion is an external inwardly directed lip-bordered channel of each length of arm within which opposing rolled walls of the headrail reside and are retained by spring tension such that no portion of the mount resides between the rolled walls.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2001Publication date: June 27, 2002Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 6142196Abstract: A machine for forming a bottom rail and a valance for a window blind unit. The machine has a support member upon which a length of wood ultimately destined to be a bottom rail or a valance can reside while cutting occurs, and includes at least one laterally movable saw blade for cutting a selectable wood segment at a selectable angle up to 90.degree.. Such angular cutting permits a mitred junction of corners in a formed valance. The machine also has at least one wood boring device and at least one wood drilling device to provide for pull cord anchoring whereby cords are passed through a drilled aperture and knotted such that the knot is housed in a bored compartment. The machine can be incorporated and automated for inline inclusion with automated components of a window blind manufacturing and assembly system to provide finished bottom rails and packaged valance components for final installation at a site of use.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1999Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: 3 Day Blinds, Inc.Inventors: Arthur I. Patent number: 5193680Abstract: A slat box for holding two or more slat stock rolls during the fabrication of metal window blinds. The slat box comprises a housing defining a plurality of equally sized adjacent compartments therein. Each of the stock rolls is interfaced to a respective compartment via the receipt of axle members inserted through the stock rolls into corresponding pairs of inserts attached to the side walls and partition members defining the compartments within the housing. The slat box further includes a rod member insertable through the inserts and axle members for preventing the stock rolls from being lifted out their respective compartments. Additionally, brake members are provided which are disposed between the stock rolls and inserts for preventing "free-wheeling" of the stock rolls from occurring.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1992Date of Patent: March 16, 1993Assignee: 3 Day Blinds, Inc.Inventors: Arthur I.
