  • Patent number: 5671985
Abstract: A drawer interlock assembly for a furniture article having at least first and second drawers. A track member is positioned on the furniture article. The assembly includes at least first and second locking members slidingly mounted in the track member. The locking members are interconnected by at least one interconnection strip. Each of the locking members includes a locking projection. The assembly further includes at least first and second drawer members attached to the first and second drawers, respectively. Each of the drawer members includes a first ramp and a second ramp. Engagement of the locking projections with the first and second ramps allows only one drawer of the furniture article to be opened at a time.

  • Patent number: 5309642
Abstract: An artwork mat marking and cutting apparatus for use in cutting mat and similar material for picture framing and the like is disclosed. The apparatus includes a combined marking and bevel cutting device and a dual scale conversion ruler for ease of measurement in laying out mat borders. The conversion ruler has a cooperating extension which fits within a grooved guide, the guide having a T square like end for squaring the mat material with the apparatus. The outer borders of the mat material may be cut using a straight cutting device in combination with the above guide. The guide includes a feature allowing the cutter to traverse the entire sheet of material. Both the bevel and straight cutting devices allow the blade to be retracted when not cutting, and have various adjustment and other features. An alternative adaptor provides for the use of the bevel cutting device to make cuts perpendicular to the mat material surface.

  • Patent number: 5058297
Abstract: A hand-assembled picture frame has a plurality of triangular, corner connection fittings which interengage mitercut ends of abutting readily available picture frame channel members. Each of two sides of the fitting slidably receives one picture frame channel member and interlocks thereto by projecting locking arms, one arm engaging a cooperating notch in each frame member. The arms, resilient and preferably integral with the balance of the fitting, are accessible from the rear surface of the fitting. A tab within the confines of the fitting is manipulated to release each locking arm. The two intersecting outside walls of the fitting may define an acute angle, slightly less than ninety degrees in order to provide a bending moment to all four channels of an assembled frame, thereby increasing the retention force of a completed frame. A stand-off member in the form of a protuberance may be provided on the rear fitting surface to space the frame assembly from the cooperating supporting surface, such as a wall.

  • Patent number: 4986156
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting properly sized artwork mats utilizes a pivoting cutter guide that has only one locking point and scale rule. Such apparatus quickly speeds up the process and increases the ease at which artwork mats are prepared. Included with the apparatus is a special conversion ruler that eliminates any need to perform mathematical calculations during the marking and cutting process. A flat surface provided underneath the base of the apparatus acts as a stop for large sheets of mat material when the apparatus is placed atop the sheets. This ensures that straight square cuts are made when cutting up the initial mat stock. A special cutter head allows both bevel and straight cuts to be made on the same guide and cutter head.
