  • Patent number: 10859363
Abstract: A tape rule assembly includes a linear optical encoder for sensing human-readable graduations of length disposed on a surface of a tape, without requiring any other machine-readable indicia to be present on the tape. The optical encoder includes two optical sensors disposed in a sensor holder pivotably disposed in the tape rule housing and configured to be displaced relative to one another in the housing along both the “x” axis and the “z” axis, a set of intersecting “x”, “y” and “z” axes being defined relative to a tape exit in the tape rule housing.

  • Patent number: 8878088
Abstract: A MOC operator structure for a vacuum circuit breaker includes a cam coupled to an operating shaft of the circuit breaker, a follower in engagement with the cam, a first lever coupled with the follower, free-floating spring structure associated with the first lever, a second lever, a linkage structure coupled with the second lever and constructed and arranged to be associated with a breaker-panel interface for moving auxiliary switches, and movable cable structure operatively coupled between the first and second levers. The first lever and spring structure are configured such that when the contacts are closed, movement of the cam via the operating shaft drives the first lever to a maximum position compressing the spring structure, prior to any movement of the cable structure, and wherein force of the spring structure moves the cable structure and thus the second lever, causing movement of the linkage structure.

  • Patent number: 7140342
Abstract: This invention is a slotted cylindrical rotary valve assembly for an internal combustion engine, comprising of two sets of gear driven slotted cylindrical tubes in a cradle apparatus. Each set has two tubes located co-axially and rotates co-axially, and each tube is slotted to allow for improved transport of a fuel/air mixture and exhaust. In one embodiment, an intake set of tubes transport fuel/air through apertures on the tubes. The exhaust set of tubes transport exhaust through apertures (slots) on the tubes. The rotation of the tubes brings the apertures in timely alignment to allow fuel/air injection and exhaust in synchronization with the cyclical operation of the pistons in the combustion chambers. Effective sealing in one embodiment is achieved by using a modified piston with an extension wall extending longitudinally from the top of the piston to seal intake and exhaust orifices at the top of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4885266
Abstract: Magnesia partially stabilized zirconia materials, having a cubic phase zirconia content in the range 70 to 25 percent (by volume) and a metal oxide additive which forms an insoluble zirconate, and a microstructure in the form of grains of stabilized cubic phase zirconia containing precipitates of tetragonal phase zirconia, are produced for use at low (less than 400.degree. C.) intermediate (between 400.degree. C. and 700.degree. C.), high (700.degree. C. to 1000.degree. C.) or very high (greater than 1000.degree. C.) temperatures. The higher the temperature of use of the ceramic material, the more the tetragonal precipitates need to be transformed into monoclinic phase zirconia. The extent to which the tetragonal precipitates are transformed is controlled by the way in which a fired, pressed mixture of the ceramic components is cooled from about 1400.degree. C. to about 1000.degree. C. An "ageing" of the ceramic material may be effected by an isothermal hold, preferably at 1350.degree. C. and then at 1100.

  • Patent number: 4730552
Abstract: A ventilating skylight including a housing having a top wall and a pair of opposed sidewalls extending downwardly from the top wall to respective roof mountings so that the housing may be fixed to a roof at opposite sides of a roof skylight opening. The housing includes front and rear openings through which sunlight may pass to the skylight opening, and a transparent or translucent dividing wall assembly is provided having front and rear portions which extend upwardly and inwardly from the front and rear openings and form the base wall of an air flow passage extending between the front and rear openings. An intermediate vent opening is provided in the base wall assembly which communicates with the flow passage for directing air flow to the skylight opening. A water trap arrangement is associated with the vent opening for obstructing rain water passing along the base wall towards the vent opening.

  • Patent number: 4489876
Abstract: A compression mold includes punch and cavity components fabricated from initially flat sheets of relatively thin metal. The sheets of each component are shaped, assembled and joined to provide box-like components defining mating mold surfaces yielding molded parts which may be straight or laterally and/or vertically curved. The hollow interior of the two components allows for the circulation therethrough of an appropriate heat transfer medium to permit molding of either thermosetting or thermoplastic compounds.
