Abstract: A compound spear sling including a frame, a pair of pulleys each with a cam portion and a cable track, an elastomeric material connecting each cam to the frame, and a draw cable.The draw cable is retracted with the spear to its ready position. As the draw cable is retracted, it rotates the cams which stretch the elastic material in such a way and in such a direction that a mechanical advantage is achieved upon reaching a READY position.Release of the draw cable reverses rotation of the pulleys due to a snap-action of the elastomeric material.The pulleys are positioned to enable a spear to pass therebtween subsequent to release of the draw cable.
