  • Publication number: 20180042643
Abstract: A percutaneous access device for use in minimally invasive surgery includes an elongated body having a proximal portion and an opposing distal portion. The proximal portion has a proximal bore extending therethrough and the distal portion has a distal bore extending therethrough. The distal portion of the body is hingedly connected to the proximal portion in a first percutaneous access position and a second anchoring position. In the first percutaneous access position the distal and proximal bores are linearly aligned when a surgical instrument is inserted into both the proximal and distal bores. In the second anchoring position the distal bore is angularly displaced from the proximal bore when the surgical instrument is removed from the distal bore.

  • Patent number: 9011319
Abstract: A single body port or body flange access device having an oval shape and associated stabilizer anchor for performing laparoscopic surgery is disclosed. The device is slipped into the body anchor stabilizer first so that the anchor stabilizer lifts up fat and peritoneum inside the body thereby keeping the operating area clear and acting to hold the body flange in place. The device further has a plurality of crisscrossing conduits assuming the shape of a cone through which surgical instruments may be inserted. The instruments are manipulated so that triangulation is obtained using one patient body flange while standard surgical procedures are performed on the patient. Due the oval shape of the device, the device minimally rotates while instruments are manipulated.

  • Publication number: 20020161881
Abstract: A packet analyzer for controlling a packet switch is segmented into a sequentially scanned array of packet analyzers, each of which is associated with a respectively different configuration function. When a packet is presented to the switch, a prescribed portion of the packet is sequentially coupled to the analyzers. As each analyzer examines the packet, it returns an indicator (e.g., ‘1’ or ‘0’) in accordance with whether the packet is associated with the configuration function of that analyzer. Once an analyzer indicates that it will accept the packet, the packet is forwarded to a stack associated with one or more virtual circuit ports embraced by that analyzer's configuration function, so that the packet may be forwarded to the appropriate virtual circuit output port, for transport over the network to a destination address.

  • Publication number: 20020146004
Abstract: A packet flow control mechanism for a frame engine of a packet switch has a reduced complexity set of ‘nominal’ data flow path-based virtual functions, that process a packet based upon the state of the individual port. Code for the virtual function set can be installed in the instruction cache, by taking advantage of the fact that, once it has reached its steady state operation, the switch's frame engine can be expected to route packets over the nominal data flow path, with no conditional branching or function replacement. The actual function to which a respective virtual function points are dependent upon the signaling state and the level of congestion. For conditional branches, the frame engine may reference auxiliary memory, which stores a conditional state-based processing routine for handling exceptions to the nominal case.

  • Patent number: 5106609
Abstract: Disclosed is a unique vehicle system which provides a desirable rheology to products formulated therewith, enhanced dispersion of actives therein, and improved deposition of actives therefrom. This vehicle system comprises a primary thickening agent which is a nonionic long-chain alkylated water-soluble polymer, and a secondary thickening agent which is a water-insoluble surfactant dispersed in a compatible solvent. Optionally, a rheological aid, which is a chelating agent may be included in the vehicle system. Also, optionally, a distributing aid, which is a water-soluble polymer of either high molecular weight or strong ionic character may be included in the vehicle system. These vehicle systems are useful in cosmetic compositions which are used to deliver an active component to the hair or skin.

This vehicle system comprises a primary thickening agent which is a nonionic long-chain alkylated water-soluble polymer, and a secondary thickening agent which is a water-soluble polymer having a molecular weight greater than about 20,000, preferably a natural polysaccharide, dispersed in a compatible solvent. Optionally, a rheological aid, which is a chelating agent, may be included in the vehicle system. • Patent number: 4650015
Abstract: A beam scale includes a single weight mounted on a balance beam which is movable to selected positions to establish ranges of weights to be measured. The beam is supported by a flexible member to which a strain gage mechanism is secured to provide a vernier weight signal. The electronic circuitry associated with the scale receives signals indicative of the adjustable weight position and indicative of the deflection of the beam supporting member and totalizes these signals to produce and display a number indicative of the weight applied to the scale. The scale permits the user operator to perform a simple calibration procedure which guarantees the accuracy of subsequent measurements by zeroing the scale and calibrating it between the zero and fifty pound setting of the adjustable weight. This provides a balance beam scale which has greater accuracy than conventional mechanical balance beam scales and is far easier to use, particularly by an untrained person.
