Patent number: 11032684Abstract: A communication system may include a plurality of geographically proximate nodes that communicate via one or more range-limited wireless technologies such as BLUETOOTH® low energy (BLE). An origin node may generate and communicate a first message responsive to detecting an event occurrence. The message may include an identifier associated with the origin node, data indicative of the event occurrence, a hop count, a maximum hop count, and a number of designated recipient nodes within the communication system. A first designated recipient node may, upon receiving the first message, attempt to confirm the event occurrence included in the first message. Upon confirming the event occurrence, the first designated recipient node may communicate a notification to an external third party. If unable to confirm the event occurrence, the first designated recipient node may generate and communicate a second message to a second designated recipient node included in the first message.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2016Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Cory J. Booth, Adam Jordan, Michael J. Payne, Alexandra C. Zafiroglu, Joshua Ekandem, Jasmeet Chhabra

Patent number: 9310881Abstract: A data processing system includes components for providing a pleasant user experience. Those components may include a family interaction engine that provides a family channel. The family interaction engine may provide for creation of a user group. The family channel may present content of interest to multiple users in the user group. When a user is detected near the data processing system, the family interaction engine may automatically present content of interest to that user. When used for presenting media content, the data processing system may also cause supplemental data to automatically be presented, wherein the supplemental data is relevant to the media content and to a predetermined interest of the user. The data processing system may also provide a ranked list of applications for potential activation by the user. The applications may be ordered based on the current context. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2012Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Timothy E. Patent number: 8458147Abstract: Techniques for the association, customization and automation of content from multiple sources on a single display device are described. A method includes storing an association rule as defined by a user, where the association rule defines a main content source and an associated content source. When the user accesses the main content source, automatically receiving content from the main content source and content from the associated content source as defined by the association rule. Then, causing the display of the associated content overlayed on the main content via a user interface on a display device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2008Date of Patent: June 4, 2013Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Michael J. Payne, Brian David Johnson, Cory J. Booth

Publication number: 20040030559Abstract: Selecting a process from an information display by speaking, includes defining a bounded region on the information display, associating at least a part of the bounded region with a color, where the color is used to indicate that the process is speech-enabled and relating a command with at least one of the bounded region and the color. The command causes the process to be selected when spoken.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2001Publication date: February 12, 2004Inventors: Michael J. Payne, Rohan Coelho, Maher M. Hawash

Publication number: 20030130867Abstract: The present invention provides for controlling health information retrieval by monitoring consent afforded for a requested disclosure through a real-time network pathway. An access server is provided within a user system that receives requests for the health information generated from a portable healthcare device. The access server determines whether a corresponding consent has been provided by an authorization holder, and permits the health information to be accessed if the consent is found. When health information may be provided in response to the request, the access server communicates with a remote site that immediately processes the request and transmits the health information. In addition, other aspects of the present invention relate to the processing of requests for health information and monitoring of consent.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Inventors: Rohan Coelho, Michael J. Payne, Robert Adams

Publication number: 20030130875Abstract: The present invention provides for performing a prescription renewal transaction through a portable healthcare device, including providing prescription-related information with a request for renewal of the prescription. A renewal request is transmitted from a pharmacy site to a benefits manager, where the relevant prescription-related information is immediately added. The request is prepared by an access server for reading at the portable healthcare device and is considered by the healthcare professional in generating a decision to allow or disallow the renewal. This response is returned into an end-to-end communication system that includes a real-time communication channel to the remote prescription site. In addition, other aspects of the present invention relating to the renewal of a prescription.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Inventors: Maher M.
