  • Publication number: 20040068651
Abstract: An optical device (2100) may be configured to facilitate cooperative friend-or-foe target identification. The optical device (2100) may include at least one optical port (2120) configured to receive one or more optical signals from a source. The optical device (2100) may further include a plurality of optical elements (2120, 2130, 2140) that interact with the received optical signal to selectively radiate one or more optical signals (2110) based on information encoded within each received optical signal.

  • Publication number: 20040028357
Abstract: A photonic logic device, such as an optical matrix (105), may include input ports for receiving photonic signals and output ports for transmitting result signals. A plurality of optical elements (130-183) may be configured to implement Boolean functions (210) of information encoded within the received signals to produce the result signals. A photonic logic device may be configured to implement any Boolean function (350) by combining photonic XOR and OR devices (360), or with an automated design process (510-570) based on an evolutionary programming technique (610-680). The photonic logic device may then be manufactured using masking techniques.

  • Patent number: 5903555
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for transmission of band limited QPSK data which is orthogonal direct-sequence spread using a BPSK sequence which preserves the band limiting even with subsequent amplification by non-linear amplifiers. This feature allows inexpensive implementation in mass produced, portable communications devices.
