  • Publication number: 20160362190
Abstract: A synthetic vision system includes a main processor that receives real time telemetry, the main processor retrieving tiles associated with a terrain map based on the real time telemetry, and the main processor processes the tiles corresponding to a mode of display. A rendering processor receives the tiles processed by the main processor, and the rendering processor renders the tiles into synthetic vision image. The rendering processor sends the synthetic vision image to at least one of a primary flight display (PFD), multi-functional display (MFD), and a secondary flight display (SFD). A processor in the at least one of the PFD, MFD, and SFD replaces inactive pixels (black pixels) with pixels of the synthetic vision image such that the synthetic vision image underlays the flight data displayed on the at least one of the PFD, MFD, and SFD.

  • Publication number: 20150128338
Abstract: A swim spa comprising a system that can provide information on the workout swim session based on a feedback control mechanism that provides the operating conditions of the flow regulator. Based on the information relating to the state of the flow regulator, the system is able to provide information regarding the water flow rate and possibly other information that may then be used to correlate or calculate information relating to the swim session. This is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded correlations between flow regulator settings and resulting water flow.

  • Publication number: 20150128720
Abstract: A system and method to monitor and/or control the operation of a fluid transferring system that does not require the use of a realtime fluid sensor. The system relies on a feedback control mechanism that provides the operating conditions of the flow regulator. Based on the information relating to the state of the flow regulator, the system is able to provide information regarding the fluid state such as flow rate. This is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded correlations between flow regulator settings and resulting fluid conditions.

  • Publication number: 20150074226
Abstract: An in-flight system provides a user with an entertainment environment including movies, music, games, internet, map, etc. The in-flight system provides stored media content on one or more servers located throughout an aircraft cabin and each server is associated with a plurality of seats. In a preferred embodiment, the in-flight system provides for a communication port (e.g., USB or mini-USB connector or micro-USB connector) for connection to personal electronic device providing access to the server containing the stored media, access to an internet connection, and power. In one embodiment, the in-flight system provides for a seat display unit (typically located in the seat back of the next forward seat) and associated media module hardware to process the stored media content and drive the display.

  • Publication number: 20140282038
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a passenger with a comprehensive software application that is associated with the passenger's flight plan and is spatially aware of the passenger's location and/or feedback with the application in order to assist the passenger with flight related tasks is disclosed. The method includes providing a different interactive map to each of a plurality of passengers on an aircraft can include packaging and transmitting flight specific data, graphical representation of the retrieved map imagery data, and the text layer with a server based application for receipt by a client based application for display and interaction, requiring additional packaging and transmitting. Alternative methods include providing an interactive map by requesting and receiving flight specific data and map imagery using a client based application running on a personal electronic device (PED) and then rendering and displaying the map imagery data per instructions of the client based application.

  • Patent number: 4376315
Abstract: A flexible valve element in the form of a flexible diaphragm movable between open and closed positions for opening or closing the drain. By operation of a control pressure chamber formed over the outer or exterior side of the diaphragm and which operates directly by application or pressure or vacuum to the same to move the diaphragm between the open and closed position. A control valve provides the connection from the control chamber to the passenger cabin to provide operating pressure for closing the valve and is alternatively connectable to an accumulator which stores vacuum normally supplied from a source such as that applied to the downstream side of the drain. The control valve is preferably operated by a solenoid which responds to an electrical signal. A manual override system is provided for closing the valve by hand.

  • Patent number: 4357719
Abstract: A method of flushing a toilet for aircraft or the line using vacuum and pressure, in which there is a toilet or other waste receiving bowl, a waste the holding tank, and a valve means for opening or closing the drain line. A vacuum is created in the waste holding tank and the drain line. The drain line is closed or opened by the action of the valve means. In the method the valve means is actuated by vacuum to open the drain line to connect the bowl to the holding tank to apply vacuum on the bowl to suck the contents from the bowl and deliver it to the holding tank. When the bowl has been emptied, pressure is applied to the valve means for closing the drain line to again build up vacuum in the system for subsequent operation.

  • Patent number: 4275470
Abstract: A non-circulating vacuum operated waste disposal system for aircraft having a toilet bowl connected to a vacuum waste holding tank by a drain connected to said bowl and to the vacuum waste holding tank. There is a flush valve in the drain having a flexible valve element movable between open and closed positions for opening or closing the drain. There is a control pressure chamber adjacent to the flexible valve element with the valve element exposed directly to the pressure or vacuum which may be within said control chamber. The valve element is held in open or closed position with respect to the drain depending upon whether there is a pressure or a vacuum in the pressure chamber. There is a connection from the pressure chamber to the cabin of the aircraft and also to the drain on the vacuum side of the flush valve. A solenoid valve is provided in the connection which is manually operable to connect cabin pressure or the vacuum in the drain to said control pressure chamber.
