  • Patent number: 7669877
Abstract: A trailer coupler pivot assembly comprising a pivot mount member connected to a trailer frame member and a hinge bracket connected to a trailer tongue arm. The hinge bracket is pivotally connected to the pivot mount member so that the trailer tongue arm is pivotal relative to the trailer frame member between an open position and a closed position. However, either of the pivot mount member or the hinge bracket comprises a single, prefabricated component to make assembly more efficient and cost effective. With both the pivot mount member and the hinge bracket being single, prefabricate components, the trailer coupler pivot assembly can be more easily installed with fewer components and welds and by less skilled labor.

  • Patent number: 7143874
Abstract: A surge brake actuator is disclosed. The actuator includes an actuator housing and a coupler housing movably engaged within the actuator housing. Upper and lower coupler slide channels formed from a plastic material are releasably connected to the coupler housing and contact the actuator housing. The plastic coupler slide channels reduce frictional loss and provides superior brake actuation output when the coupler housing retracts into the actuator housing during braking. The surge brake actuator includes a push rod assembly that also provides superior brake actuation output to the actuator and can engage the actuator during a breakaway event. The surge brake actuator includes a releasably engagable reverse lock that prevents brake actuation while the towing vehicle moves in reverse.

  • Patent number: 7111592
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for facilitating the cooling of engine coolant flowing through a radiator operatively connected to the engine of an engine-driven, electrical generator set. The engine has a crankshaft rotatable about a first axis and a radiator having a first side directed towards the engine and a second side. The apparatus includes a fan positionable on the second side of the radiator that is rotatable about a second axis generally parallel to and vertically spaced from the first axis. The apparatus includes a thermally responsive clutch having a driven portion. The clutch is movable between a first disengaged position wherein the driven portion is isolated from the crankshaft and a second engaged position wherein the driven portion rotates in unison with the crankshaft in response to a predetermined temperature. A fan drive system interconnects the driven portion of the clutch and the fan for translating rotation of the driven portion to the fan.

  • Patent number: 6936763
Abstract: Shielded electronic integrated circuit apparatus (5) includes a substrate (10), with an eletronic integrated circuit (15) formed thereon, and a dielectric region (12) positioned on the electronic integrated circuit. The dielectric region and the substrate are substantially surrounded by lower and upper magnetic material regions (26, 30), deposited using electrochemical deposition, and magnetic material layers on each side (32, 34). Each of the lower and upper magnetic material regions preferably include a glue layer (36, 40), a seed layer (28, 24), and an electrochemically deposited magnetic material layer (26, 30). Generally, the electrochemically deposited magnetic material layer can be conveniently deposited by electroplating.

  • Patent number: 6431525
Abstract: A winch mechanism that is capable of sustained, heavy load operation comprises a frame, a ratchet, and a pawl for cooperative engagement with a pinion and a drum gear. The frame includes a plurality of apertures positioned proximate to the pawl axle, one aperture for each mode of operation of the winch mechanism. Pawl position relative to the pinion is defined by the position of a ratchet plug and the apertures in the frame. The winch mechanism includes a forward-engaged mode, a reverse-engaged mode, and a free-spooling mode. A wave washer urges the ratchet plug into one of the apertures once the ratchet mode is determined.

  • Publication number: 20020107093
Abstract: An adjustable structure for altering the position of a device such as a basketball goal. The adjustable structure includes a pivoting frame mounted to a support. The positionally adjustable device is mounted to the frame for movement therewith. Incorporated into the frame is a spring-biased jack member for controlling the position of the frame and facilitates movement of the frame over a range of positions. The jack includes inner and outer telescoping tubes secured at their outer ends to the frame. A spring disposed within the tubes biases the tubes toward an expanded position. A lock plate mounted to the outer tube selectively lockingly engages the inner tube to retain the jack and frame in the desired position. The lock plate includes a cup for depressing the lock plate and releasing the inner tube for adjustment of the frame.
