  • Publication number: 20080312716
Abstract: The present invention relates to electrode assemblies, neurostimulation systems and methods for implanting and using same. In exemplary embodiments, the electrode includes a body having a conductive contact surface dimensioned and configured to contact a patient's skull; and an electrode head associated with the body. The electrode head is sized for subcutaneous positioning adjacent the subject's skull, and the electrode body is of a length and configured such that the electrode body extends at least partially through the patient's skull but does not contact the patient's dura mater. As these electrodes need not directly contact the brain nor penetrate the dura mater to be effective in neurostimulatory applications, they avoid many of the disadvantages, e.g. increased risk of infection and invasive implantation procedures, associated with conventional electrode design.

  • Patent number: 6892086
Abstract: A medical electrode designed to prevent the passage of harmful electric current to a patient, thereby preventing tissue damage and electrocution. In the preferred embodiment, the inventive medical electrode is comprised of a proximal end, a distal end, a conductive lead connecting the proximal and distal ends, and a fuse located upon the medical electrode for preventing the passage of harmful electric current to a patient. For additional protection from induction current, the preferred location of the fuse is aft of the conductive lead element of the electrode. While a fuse is used in the preferred embodiment, the fuse could be replaced with a diode or a circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 6574118
Abstract: A method for installing a printed circuit board assembly on a disk drive base plate is disclosed, as well as the corresponding structure used for this installation. Generally, the printed circuit board assembly includes a pair of bosses that are each disposed within a corresponding concave slot on the base plate. When installing the printed circuit board assembly, the bosses are disposed within their corresponding slot while the printed circuit is disposed at an angle relative to the base plate. Thereafter, the printed circuit board assembly is pivoted toward and into interfacing relation with the base plate at least generally about the bosses.

  • Patent number: 6545214
Abstract: A device to permit upgrading of a building's utilities, as well as the addition thereto, such as but not limited to phone, tv, and electrical supply, to be inserted into new or preexisting sheet rock, or above or below the sheet rock to blend into the crown molding or baseboard as may be present. The device has a base frame to be attached to the studs in a cutout in the sheet rock, and which is sized in elevation to receive standard electrical boxes, and sized in width to preferably fit between adjacent studs, such as but not limited to 16 and 24 inches on center. A cover member element, has one edge located spline or a pair of spaced splines, each of which present matingly engages a respective slot formed in and extending forwardly on the base frame. In those areas along the length of the base frame occupied by utility boxes with components disposed therein, such components are covered over by standard electrical box cover plates which are attached in conventional fashion.
