  • Patent number: 5499116
Abstract: An encoded hologram that produces a first image and a second image pursuant to playback illumination, wherein the first image is resolvable by human vision while the second image is not resolvable by human vision when the playback illumination comprises non-coherent broad band illumination, and wherein the second image is machine readable when the hologram is illuminated with playback illumination that is based on the original reference beam.

  • Patent number: 5497251
Abstract: A hologram structure for use in a holographic center high mounted stoplight system for a vehicle. The hologram structure includes an illumination source for providing a reconstruction beam, a first array of non-overlapping hologram cells and non-hologram cells, and a second array of non-overlapping hologram and non-hologram cells. Each hologram cell of the first array produces a specular image that is viewable in a first predetermined angular field pursuant to diffraction of a portion of the reconstruction beam, and each hologram cell of the second array produces a diffuse image that is viewable in a second predetermined angular field pursuant to diffraction of a portion of the reconstruction beam. The specular images and diffuse images produced by the first and second holograms form stoplight illumination.

  • Patent number: 5495227
Abstract: A hologram structure for use in a holographic center high mounted stoplight system for a vehicle. The hologram structure includes first and second hologram layers laminarly secured to each other, each having a plurality of holographic lenses formed therein, each holographic lens being configured to diffract light into a predetermined solid angular region.

  • Patent number: 5101193
Abstract: A holographic stoplight for a vehicle including a stoplight hologram, a source of playback illumination, and a transparent prism for supporting the stoplight hologram and for guiding the playback illumination to the stoplight hologram. The prism with the stoplight hologram is mounted in front of the rear window of a vehicle with the light source beneath the surface of the rear panel that is adjacent the rear window.

  • Patent number: 5013392
Abstract: A hologram delamination tool is described in which a frame has a cutting blade fastened to one side thereof such that the blade is tautly disposed across a channel formed in the frame. A pressure plate is slidably inserted into the channel to hold the blade flat such that when the cutting tool is used to delaminate a hologram from a substrate, the pressure plate keeps the thin blade from buckling and is retracted during the cutting by the force of the edge of the delaminating hologram to allow the hologram to rest on the top surface of the blade so that the hologram can be lifted away from the substrate upon completion of the delamination.

  • Patent number: 4978593
Abstract: A method is disclosed for making holograms on transparent surfaces. A protective thin substrate 18 is laminated to a temporary support 24 for processing. This procedure protects the delicate thin substrate 18 through the processing steps. Upon completion of the processing steps, the thin substrate 18 is then removed from the temporary support 24. The applied photosensitive material gives the delicate thin substrate 18 added strength. The thin substrate 18 is then laminated to the final surface 26. In one embodiment, the final surface 26 corresponds to a car windshield 34. Playback lamps 36 located in the dashboard 32 illuminate the thin substrate 18 to read the holographic image.
