  • Patent number: 6279513
Abstract: A fluid bed chamber assembly that is affixed to or incorporated onto the bottom portion of a combustion chamber of a package boiler assembly to increase combustion efficiency of the boiler. The fluid bed chamber assembly comprises a lower region and an upper region. The lower region having a plurality of inlet means for admitting fluidizing gas to the lower region for fluidizing a bed of particles contained therein, heat exchange tubes disposed about the side walls of the lower region, and first and second in-bed heat exchange tubes which are disposed substantially horizontal within the lower region. The upper region comprises at least one secondary air inlet means, at least one tertiary air inlet means, at least one fuel feed inlet means, and at least one recycle inlet means, all of which are disposed within the side wall of the conversion fluid bed chamber assembly.

  • Patent number: 4969404
Abstract: A method for treating ash produced by waste coal fluidized bed boilers in which hot ash fines and heated secondary air are introduced into the boiler as the coarse ash is cooled. An ash treatment system for cooperation with a fluidized bed boiler operating on waste fuel having a high ash content receives and classifies hot ash from the boiler, returns ash fines to the boiler, cools coarse ash fines for disposal and burns carbon associated with the ash received from the boiler.

  • Patent number: 4528945
Abstract: In a tube boiler, fuel is burned in a fluidized bed which has a shallower part and a deeper part. The tubes extend only through the shallower part which can be fluidized independently of the deeper part so that the rate of heat transfer from the bed to the tubes can be varied according to demand. Water flows through specially configurated, upwardly oriented tubes by natural convection. There is also a general circulation of particles within the bed.

  • Patent number: 4148186
Abstract: A gas turbine engine has a rotatable drum within which a bed of articles is supported. A compressor of the engine feeds compressed air into the drum to fluidize the bed. Powdered coal is fed into the drum to burn in the bed and the hot products of combustion pass through cyclones to the power turbine. The drum has a solids outlet through which excess particles are discharged from the bed.
