  • Publication number: 20120237778
Abstract: The present invention provides aqueous coating compositions for metal substrates, where the coating provides improved corrosion resistance compared to conventional aqueous corrosion resistant coatings. The coating comprises (a) one or more functionalized acrylic polymer; (b) one or more melamine resin; (c) one or more perfluorinated polymer; and (d) one or more dispersing polymer selected from the group consisting of polyimide (P1), polyamideimide (PAI), polyether sulfone (PES), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), and a mixture thereof. The composition is particularly useful for fasteners, such as nuts and bolts, used in marine environments.

  • Patent number: 8071198
Abstract: The invention provides a non-stick coating for glass cookware that has good adhesion and stain resistance while maintaining the abrasion resistance of the non-stick coating. The non-stick coating comprises a base coat that contains fluoropolymer and colloidal silica and an overcoat comprising one or more polymer layers containing inorganic filler film hardener.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2007
Date of Patent: December 6, 2011
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Michael Joseph Michalczyk, Michael J. Witsch
  • Patent number: 7772311
Abstract: A composition is provided that is applicable for providing a non-stick abrasion-resistant coating on a surface, but not as a primer layer, said composition comprising fluoropolymer and an effective amount of ceramic particles having an average size of at least about 10 micrometers to improve the abrasion resistance of said coating on said surface by at least 10% as determined by the dry SBAR method, said composition optionally containing adhesion promoter in an amount up to about 10 wt % of the wt. of said fluoropolymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 23, 2007
Date of Patent: August 10, 2010
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Jerome T. Adams, Osamu Hayakawa, Michael J. Witsch
  • Patent number: 7695807
Abstract: A non-stick coating on a substrate is provided wherein the coating comprises an overcoat and a primer adhering the overcoat to the substrate, the overcoat comprising fluoropolymer and an effective amount of ceramic particles, preferably at least 3 wt % based on the combined weight of the fluoropolymer and the ceramic particles in the overcoat, said ceramic particles having an average particle size of at least about 10 micrometers to increase the abrasion resistance of said coating as determined by the dry SBAR method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 23, 2007
Date of Patent: April 13, 2010
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Jerome T. Adams, Osamu Hayakawa, Michael J. Witsch
  • Patent number: 7462387
Abstract: The invention relates to a structure comprising a substrate and a baked release coating on the substrate, the coating comprising an undercoat and a fluoropolymer overcoat, wherein said undercoat contains magnetizable flakes and a plurality of silicon carbide particles. The coated substrates of the invention have improved heat transfer properties, improved abrasion resistance and good release.
