Abstract: A dynamically changing, multi-color liquid crystal display for electronic watches or other design apparel items is provided. The liquid crystal displays incorporated within the watch or designer apparel item can be adapted to provide various colored images such as geometric images, animation images, customized images, designer labels, logos, etc. on colored backgrounds or alternatively provides a color changing capability that is aesthetically pleasing and fashionable. Moreover, the dynamically changing watch or other designer apparel item allows for the electronic control of the color appearance of the liquid crystal displays as well as electronic control of the liquid crystal display images, such images being generally independent of the time of day.

Abstract: In a dental prosthesis having a post stem, a neck and a head, the stem has a terminal segment at the end opposite the head and an intermediate segment with an uneven surface between the terminal portion and the head. The radial extremities of the uneven surface extend precisely to the contour of a right circular cone tapering in the terminal direction, and the radial extremities of the outer surface of terminal portion extend radially outward beyond the contour of this cone. A socket is drilled into the alveolar bone using a drill bit having the same conical taper that the extremities of the uneven surface follow. The prosthesis is inserted into the socket with some pressure so that the terminal portion deforms the alveolar bone only at the deep end of the socket, locking the prosthesis into the socket and bringing the extremities of the uneven surface into firm surface contact with the wall of the socket.

Abstract: A novel process is disclosed for producing a fracture-free shaped ceramic green body which comprises casting an aqueous suspension of hydroxylapatite, whitlockite or a mixture of these having a high water content and high drying shrinkage in an impervious mold, the cavity surfaces of which are coated with an inert water-immiscible lubricant; drying the casting under controlled conditions of temperature and humidity and removing adsorbed lubricant from the resulting dried green body.

Abstract: A novel ceramic form of hydroxylapatite and a novel ceramic product comprising a mixture of the latter and whitlockite, the preparation of these ceramics and dental restorative compositions and dental and surgical prosthetic materials containing the same are disclosed. Also described is a novel and improved process for producing polycrystalline ceramic oxides.
