  • Patent number: 10164316
Abstract: A combining arrangement comprises a power combiner having at least four ports. A first match-dependent oscillator is connected to input power at a first frequency to a first input port of the power combiner. A second match-dependent oscillator is connected to input power at a second frequency to a second input port of the power combiner. A mismatch is connected to a third port of the power combiner. The power combiner is operative to combine power from the first and second oscillators and, when the first and second frequencies are different, to apply a fraction of the combined power to the mismatch. The mismatch reflects at least some of the fraction of the combined power to the first and second oscillators to phase and frequency lock their outputs. A fourth output port of the power combiner is connected to receive the combined power.

  • Patent number: 8237366
Abstract: An output window for a vacuum electron device comprises an output waveguide, an intermediate layer of dielectric material joined to the interior of the output waveguide with a vacuum-tight seal, and upper and lower layers of dielectric material spaced apart from the intermediate layer and arranged above and below, respectively, the intermediate layer in a vertical orientation of the output waveguide. The upper and lower layers including openings. Supports extend inwardly into the output waveguide and support the upper and lower layers. Pillars extend through the openings in the lower layer and support the intermediate layer. The openings in the upper and lower layers permit a venting of a region between the upper layer and the intermediate layer and a region between the lower layer and the intermediate layer during the sealing of the intermediate layer while the intermediate layer is supported by the pillars.

  • Patent number: 7259901
Abstract: An optical signal demodulator for demodulating an M-ary phase shift key (PSK) optical signal comprises a plurality of interferometers arranged such that the optical signal is divided between the interferometers. Each interferometer comprises a plurality of interferometer arms, each arm for transmitting a portion of the signal between an input and an output of the interferometer, the interferometer including an optical delay in one arm relative to another arm thereof. The optical delay between arms of an interferometer may be provided by an optical path length difference between the arms. The optical delay between arms of an interferometer may be different for one interferometer to that of another interferometer.
