  • Publication number: 20240091069
Abstract: An apparatus for protecting a post-amputation residuum comprises a shell defining a hollow interior cavity adapted for receiving and covering a distal portion of the residuum. The shell has an opening into the cavity at the distal end. A first and a second plurality of circumferentially spaced longitudinal slits extend from the proximal end and the distal end, respectively. A proximal portion of a compression sleeve is disposed over at least a portion of the residuum. A free distal portion of the sleeve extends through the opening in the shell and everts upon application of a longitudinal force to the distal portion of the sleeve in a proximal direction for folding over and covering the shell. The distal portion of the sleeve extends proximally of the shell to a position at least partially along the proximal portion of the sleeve for compressing the shell inwardly toward the residuum.

  • Patent number: 11737926
Abstract: An apparatus suspends a post-amputation residuum protection device for a below the knee amputation. The suspending apparatus comprises an elongated arcuate first shell defining an open interior channel. The first shell is adapted to receive at least a portion of the residuum and the residuum protection device into the interior channel. A flexible second shell includes a circumferential wedge extending radially inwardly from a portion of an inner surface. The second shell is configured to be received within the first shell and adapted to cover the residuum adjacent to the knee. The wedge is adapted to bear against the residuum above the medial femoral condyle such that the wedge is received in the supracondylar space for suspending the residuum protection device.

  • Patent number: 11517455
Abstract: An apparatus for suspending a prosthesis from a residual limb comprises a tubular liner adapted to receive the residual limb. A lanyard is secured at one end to the distal end of the liner. A hollow prosthetic socket defines a well configured to receive the residual limb and includes a socket seal disposed at the distal end of the socket. An upper surface of the socket seal defines a recess opening to the exterior of the socket through a side wall. A sealing element disposed along the length of the lanyard is configured to engage within the passage. The free end of the lanyard is pulled through passage such that the sealing element sealingly engages within the passage for preventing fluid communication through the passage. The liner at least partially contacts the interior surface of the socket for providing a fluid seal and creating negative pressure within the socket.

  • Publication number: 20150320576
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for supporting a post amputation residuum protection device. The supporting apparatus comprises a central portion, and a first flap and a second flap extending from the lower end of the central portion. A strap member is secured to the central portion and includes a pair of elongated straps each having a free distal end and longitudinally spaced holes adjacent their distal ends. The flaps are adapted to extend around a distal end of the residuum protection device. The first side and the second side of the central portion are adapted to wrap around the residuum protection device forming a shape conforming to the outside of the residuum protection device. The straps are connectable to a waist belt for supporting the residuum protection device.
