  • Patent number: 4745170
Abstract: This invention is a polyurethane and/or polyurea elastomer prepared in the reaction of:(a) an organic polyisocyanate;(b) a chain extender and(c) a polyether having a molecular weight from about 500 to about 10,000, which polyether is a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and butylene oxide comprising an internal poly(EO) block bonded on each side to a poly(BO) block, wherein oxybutylene moieties comprise from about 10 to about 90 percent of the total weight of the polyether.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 25, 1985
Date of Patent: May 17, 1988
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Kimbley A. Bushman, Michael K. Laughner
  • Patent number: 4687851
Abstract: The disclosed invention is a polyurethane and/or polyurea polymer which is the reaction product of a reaction mixture comprising(a) a polyisocyanate, and(b) a polyether polyahl having an equivalent weight of at least about 2000 and a level of unsaturation of less than 0.1% by weight. The polyurethane and/or polyurea polymer of this invention is an elastomeric material having surprisingly good properties. In particular, the polyurethane and/or polyurea is highly resilient and has excellent tensile properties.

  • Patent number: 4595743
Abstract: A polyurea or polyurea-polyurethane elastomer which is the reaction product of reaction mixture comprising (a) an organic polyisocyanate, (b) a low equivalent weight aromatic amine chain extender in an amount from about 15 to 60 parts by weight based on the weight of isocyanate reactive components present in said reaction mixture, (c) an amount of an amine-initiated polyol sufficient to provide the elastomer with a measurably decreased brittleness at demold as compared to a similar elastomer prepared in the absence of said amine initiated polyol.
