    Abstract: A latch is configured to be affixed to an inner portion of a door to an enclosure and to engage a catch attached to an inner portion of the enclosure when the door is in a closed position/A housing is affixed to an outer portion of the door and includes a memory device and a latch controller configured to detect when the latch is no longer within a proximity of the catch. The controller is configured to electronically open the latch to open the access door. The housing also includes an emergency access portal aligned with and providing access through the access door by an instrument to at least the catch to engage the catch and release the access door. The latch controller detects that the latch is no longer within the predetermined proximity of the catch and registers the opening of the latch in the memory device.

The access control system is configured to detect, using one or more sensors, when the latch is within a predetermined proximity of the catch, and responsive to detecting that the latch is not within the predetermined proximity of the catch, determine whether an authorized credential was received via a communication interface to open the latch, and when the authorized credential was received, register an authorized opening of the latch in a memory device, and when the authorized credential was not received, register an the unauthorized opening of the latch in the memory device and enter an alert state.

Each container includes a securable lid preventing access to the contents of the container, and the vertically-aligned carousel is configured to lock in a secured position. A sensor within the secure receptacle determines a position of the carousel, and a motorized controller rotates the carousel to a requested position. On determining a requested container, the carousel is rotated so that the requested container is moved from a current position to the opening of the secure receptacle, and the securable lid of the requested container is actuated to provide access to its contents.
