  • Publication number: 20090204695
Abstract: The invention relates to an automation network and to automation equipment, network components and field devices for an automation network of this type. The network components transmit messages concerning their status to the automation equipment by means of a communication mechanism that functions according to field communication automation technology. Said automation equipment receives the status messages, evaluates them, monitors the operation of the network and controls said operation using the status messages. As the automation equipment thus contains the complete picture of the process and the network, it can react directly and rapidly to problems of the network. This eliminates the need, for example, for an additional SNMP/OPC server or a network management station.

  • Patent number: 7508824
Abstract: A method and a system for transmitting data over a switchable network, especially Ethernet, in the field of industrial installations, in which real-time critical data and non real-time critical data is transmitted. The switchable data network has at least one wireless transmission link between at least two users, especially a transmitter and a receiver. When a communication interface is created by way of a coupling unit of the data network between cyclically clocked communication connections differing in performance, the data is forwarded according to a “store and forward” method. The method and system enable a parallel transmission of real-time critical and non real-time critical data.

  • Publication number: 20090035208
Abstract: The invention relates to nanoporous catalyst particles having a spherical and/or spheroidal secondary structure, which contain, as catalytically active constituents, transition metals and/or oxides or precursors thereof. The invention also relates to a method for producing the nanoporous catalyst particles, during which, by means of a precipitation process, precursors with a spherical and/or spheroidal preliminary shape are produced from soluble compounds of the active constituents, and these morphologically pre-shaped precursors are, in a thermal activation step, transformed into nanoporous catalyst particles having a spherical and/or spheroidal secondary structure. The inventive catalyst particles can be used in the production of ceramic materials, as electrode materials in electrochemical cells or in fuel cells, as storage materials for chemical species and, in particular, in the production of carbon nanoparticles in the form of small tubes or fibers.

  • Publication number: 20090031152
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for starting up of at least one first field instrument, wherein the method comprises the step of signaling a firs demand for electrical power output of the first field instrument over a first port to a supply unit. According to this method, the first field instrument is previously connected to the supply unit over the first port by means of a first communication connection. In addition, the reception of the power output is effected according to the first demand for power output by the first field instrument over the first communication connection and the first port, by which the first filed instrument is activated. In an additional step, a power usage unit of the first field instrument is assigned to the first port, wherein the power usage unit is provided as consumer load for the power output.
